City of Los Angeles Birthday Celebration

If you've never been to Olvera Street, then this is the weekend to go. On Saturday, September 5th is the City of Los Angeles Birthday celebration. Join others for the Los Pobladores walk to L.A. from the San Gabriel Mission along with "historic re-enactments, artisan demonstrations, exhibits, food, entertainment and plenty of birthday cake." This celebration will take place at W-26 Olvera Street Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Taste of Beverly Hills

Head down to zip code 90210 for Labor Day weekend and take part in the Taste of Beverly Hills. This celebration of food, people and culture takes place September 2nd to the 5th. If you happen to have an extended Labor Day weekend or live in Los Angeles, don't miss out on the kick off party with Natasha Bedingfield, Larry King and Wolfgang Puck. Tickets are a little steep and range from $125 to $150 for adults per day and $62.50 to $75 for teens ages 13-20. A festival pass, for all five days except the 2nd, costs $500 for adults and $250 for teens. Kids under twelve are free. In addition, there will be beer, wine and cocktail tastings, DJs, live music and live cooking demonstrations from leading chefs. Go on Sunday, September 5th for the Art of Brunch. There will be a "gospel brunch" performance, delicious breakfast goods, mimosas, a pie contest and more. This event takes place at 9900 Wilshire Blvd. You know the zip code.

Fiesta Hermosa

Fiesta Hermosa is an arts and crafts fair that takes place September 4, 5 & 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Situated in downtown Hermosa, this fair is especially nice because you can see the ocean as you take in the other sights. According to the website, there are "over 270 artists and crafters are featured, including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handicrafters." In addition, there are two music stages. One features "tribute" bands and the other is a mix of "rock n' roll, zydeco, country western, and rhythm and blues." A delicious mix of food from different countries, the kiddie carnival and a petting zoo are some of the other highlights. Click here for directions and other tips.
