Lace Knitting for Summer

Asaknitter
Those long warm nights are here and it's light late into the evening - a perfect combination for more intricate lace knitting. Certainly more challenging and not for the impatient knitter, these fine knits are works of art.

I started my first lace knitting project a couple of weeks ago and I'm already hooked. You can read about my progress on my blog KnittingNutter. I spent hours searching the Internet for the perfect first lace knitting project, so i thought I'd share some of my favourite free lace knitting patterns with you.

First, the project I picked. The Snowdrop Shawl that the famous Yarnharlot designed. It's challenging enough to keep me busy, but the repeats are consistent enough to see any mistakes almost immediately. Early into the project I can now see the pattern clearly and have stopped counting every row of stitches.

Shawls are not the only lace knitting projects around. Here are some other lace knits.

A very cute lace baby bonnet for those new additions to the family.

This lovely lace scarf is on my to do list.

For those of you that want something more challenging - how about this lace stole by designer Eunny Jang.

And there's a vast collection of patterns for lace socks: the fern lace panel socks, a toe-up lace sock, the lacy scallop and the lace wings fixation socks.

Happy knitting.
