Lack of Self Esteem Undermines Marriage

In many parts of the world, a man is regarded as the head of the family, he signifies unity. A man's chore duty includes protecting the family and provision of food and shelter.

In the African society, a woman would leave her house to join a man in what is referred to as the matrimonial home. It is binding in some communities that the man fulfill traditional obligation which include paying of dowry prize, "the prize is mostly inform of cows and money" it varies, the level of education determine how many cows one is to part away with, though minimum rest at two.

In some of the communities mostly found in East Africa, once a man and a lady have been brought together by marriage, literally the male would assume ownership, " in situation of family dispute, a woman could not leave for her place of birth" says a marriage expert, and in any case of divorce, the man has authority to claim his dowry.

In some cases where a man works and the woman doesnt, a mans duty will be reduced to mere suppling of money. "Such men will be powerful at work but that will be reduced when at home" says an expert, this is a sharp contrast to the dominant women, in public, they appear calm, gentle and non assuming.

One may wonder what kind of a working man could be dominated over by a housewife. Such men are handsome, still capable of attracting other marriage, they are wealthy and have manners.

According to experts, lack of self esteem in a man may make a woman dominate over. Rough definition puts self-esteem as the belief in one-self. The self-denial makes a man believe that it was a great favor for the woman to marry him "this is so even when it is evident that the woman is of low status". Lack of self-esteem puts a man in a such situation, he cannot make tangible decision.
