One of the rules in lacrosse that is different than any other sport regards the ball out of bounds. When the ball travels out of bounds, the team who is closer to the line where the ball went out of bounds gets the ball. So if you have a player from your team right where the ball went out and the other team has a player ten feet away from that spot, you will get the ball back. A lot of times the goalie will go back toward the back line so they can be the closest one to the ball to make the defense get the ball. You can also use your stick and hold it out towards where the ball went out of bounds so you could get the ball back. The stick is considered to be a part of you since you are holding it and it is fair to extend your stick as close as you can to the area where the ball goes out of bounds.
Another rule that is unique to lacrosse is the face off which happens after a team scores. The face off basically means that you could regain possession of the ball after you score with a win. The face off rule makes lacrosse interesting because it means that the same team can keep scoring as long as they keep winning the face off. This makes the sport very fun to watch because the scores can be one-sided for a few minutes and then the score can go in the other team's favor within seconds. This face off rule makes lacrosse a very interesting sport and makes the sport totally different from any other game which would automatically give the ball to the other team after a score. The face off rule is kind of like the onside kick in football, where if you get the onside kick and regain possession of the ball, you can get the ball back without the other team having their chance.
When the final two minutes of lacrosse come into play, there is a rule about staying in a designated attack zone. The team that is ahead in the game must stay within the designated attack zone or else there is an offensive penalty. This offensive penalty will automatically give possession of the ball to the other team which would be the losing team. The attack zone rule in the final two minutes of the game is only for the team that is winning at that point and the penalty would only give the possession to the losing team. This rule can make the difference in the winning team losing the game because it would be a penalty plus the lost possession of the ball. This is a very unique rule that is only used in lacrosse and it makes the final two minutes more interesting.
