Lady Gaga Causes Controversy with 'Born This Way' Album Cover, 'Judas' Video

Plus-- a Look Back at Five Really Weird Album Covers

Welcome to the machine.

Is Lady Gaga half-woman, half- motorcycle? Because some of her loyal little monsters just don't get the cover art to her long-awaited album, "Born This Way." That, coupled with the release of Gaga's latest single, "Judas," has the controversial singer under fire by The Catholic League.

The single to "Judas" will be released just in time for Easter, the holiest time on the Christian calendar. In the video Gaga will portray Mary Magdalene, much to the ire of Catholic League president Bill Donohue.

Donohue described Gaga as " increasingly irrelevant," and said, "She is trying to rip off Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances."

Lady Gaga's album isn't due out until May 23, but the singer tweeted a preview pic of the cover to fans on Monday. On the cover, Gaga's head and arms are sprouting out of a motorcycle body. Some fans are wondering what the image has to do with being "born this way," unless she's the spawn of Harley Davidson, that is.

Of course Lady Gaga isn't the first artist to come out with a really weird album cover. Here are five more album covers that left fans scratching their heads:

Black Sabbath- "Born Again"- Maybe there's just a problem with the whole "born" theme in general, but this is one ugly album cover. The yellow-fanged devil spawn is disturbing on a nightmare-worthy level. I'd rather see Ozzy with devil horns.

The Rolling Stones- "Dirty Work"- The Stones have had some really cool album covers. "Some Girls," "Let it Bleed,"-- even "Tattoo You." So I don't know what happened with the 1986 cover for "Dirty Work." Guess they were getting their "Miami Vice" groove on.

Poison- "Open Up And Say Ahhh"- Look what the cat dragged in. Unless you bought this album when it first came out in the late 1980s, you may have ended up with the second version that had the beast's face half-covered up. Church and parental advisory groups denounced the red demon on the original cover, although in later releases the original cover art was back.

Alice in Chains- "Facelift"- Seriously, in order to listen to "Man in the Box" we have to get past this? The only thing harder to look at than this blurry shot is the cover to their album, "Dirt."

Prince- "Lovesexy"- Do we really need to see a naked Prince posing like a flower fairy? Guess he was born that way.
