Lady Gaga Gets Hinky, Uses 'R' Word and Apologizes Via Perez Hilton

Valerie Ferrari
US Magazine reports that Lady Gaga has committed quite a faux pas by using the "R word," in response to questions that her "Born This Way" anthem is just a knock-off of Madonna's 1989 "Express Yourself."

The 25-year-old superstar is clearly sick of addressing this issue that has been going on for over 2 months and exploded: "I'm a songwriter. I've written loads of music. Why would I try to put out a song and think I'm getting one over on everybody? That's retarded."

"What a completely ridiculous thing to even question me about ...," she continued to expound, "If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f***ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means that I'm f***ing smart. Sorry."

US points out that Jennifer Aniston, Howard Stern and Lindsay Lohan have all caught flack for using the word "retard" or "retarded;" and that Kirsten Seckler, spokeswoman for the Special Olympics said stars may want to use the word "ridiculous" instead.

Lady Gaga did use the word ridiculous, in addition, not instead.

This report is hilarious on so many levels, it's ridiculous. So it's okay to throw the "F" word around now, but not the "R" word? There is also the fact that this issue was hashed and re-hashed on all the talk shows when "Born This Way" came out in mid-February. Lady Gaga appeared on Jay Leno claiming Madonna and her people were totally cool with the whole thing:

"You know, there is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan, personally and professionally," Gaga told Leno. "Well, the good news is, I got an e-mail from her people and her sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single, and if the Queen says it shall be, then it shall be."

"Express Yourself" actually went to No. 10 by the week of July 1, 1989, so Gaga's math is off, too.

It must be all that weed that Gaga is so proud of smoking. Oh, and that's okay too, no one makes a stink about that even if Gaga wants a 10-year-old kid to perform on stage with her.

But wait -- Gaga has already sent an apology and explanation to Perez Hilton:

"I consider it part of my life's work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully. To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake, requires honesty to make. Whether life's disabilities, left you outcast bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today." - Lady GaGa

No news on the "F" word.

I am a member of the Madonna generation and was always a big fan of her music, but either I am just getting old or I just don't get it; to me Lady Gaga is a mediocre singer that just has a unique hook that works for her. I read an interview of her's once and was not as impressed with her as she seems with herself. I don't think the weed has much to do with her choice of words.....I think like comedian Ron White says, " you can't fix stupid." Enjoyed the article by the way.
