Lady Gaga No. 1 in Web Rank and Social Rank
The Top 100 includes 14 musicians, with Lady Gaga, Beyonce Knowles, Britney Spears, Madonna and U2 at the top of the heap in Web Rank. Only Lady Gaga's Social Rank matches her Web Rank and that rank is No. 1. Britney ranks No. 3 for Web and No. 2 for Social.
In case social rank struck you as odd, too, Forbes explains: "Social rank is calculated using metrics like Facebook friends and fans as well as Twitter followers."
There are 10 actors and actresses on the list. Robert Pattinson of Twilight beat out Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and George Clooney. Angelina Jolie is still heading up the web rank list, while Pattinson's Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart didn't even make this list.
It looks like we are really a sports-minded nation, since 18 athletes made the grade, and the top 3 in web rank are Cristiano Ronaldo, Kobe Bryant and David Becham. Tiger Woods is No. 4 right ahead of Michael Jordan.
Oprah, who is also named the most powerful celebrity this year, heads up a list of 13 personalities for web rank. Glenn Beck, Jay Leno and David Letterman follow her, in that order.
Here's why Kristen Stewart didn't make the actress list -- she is on the Teen Star list, ranked 3rd behind Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift for Web Rank.
They also have short lists of TV actors and actresses, authors, directors and comedians. What's weird about it is they have George Lopez on the list of comedians and Ellen DeGeneres on the list of personalities.
As comedian Arte Johnson used to say, ver-r-r-y interesting! The celebs making the most money these days aren't the most popular celebrities on the internet. U2 pulled in more than double what Lady Gaga made.
