Lady GaGa Provided the Headlines, Beyonce Provided the Talent

Beyonce Brings Back Memories of 2004 by Winning 5 Grammy's

Lady GaGa has become quite proficient at stealing headlines over the last year and her sensationalism did not stop at the Grammy's. Not one to shy away from being brash or showing a little flesh, her fans could not have been happier. However, this night was about an artist that who is actually there to showcase her talent.

Beyonce tore through the awards ceremony in fine fashion as she took down one award after the other. There is little doubt now (not that there was any doubt in the first place) that Beyonce is indeed the premier female vocalist on the music scene. She has made the cross over from music to the entertainment world very nicely and is also probably responsible for quite a few men signing up for Direct TV over the last year or so.

The Grammy's had a sense of déjà vu as 2004 had very similar results. This was the year that Beyonce made her debut and tallied just as many awards as she did at this year's ceremony. "Dangerously in Love" owned the charts that season and set the stage for yet another diva to dominate the music scene.

Of course, there were other things going on besides Beyonce winning awards. Lady GaGa started everything off with one of the most interesting outfits we have ever seen on the show and belted out her very popular "Poker Face." Now I will be the first to admit that the lyrics from this song pop out of my mouth every now and again, but it is more about her showmanship than anything else. She does have a gift for the shock factor.

Some of the other artists who had big nights were Taylor Swift (4 awards), The Black Eyes Peas (3 awards) and Jay-Z (two awards), Eminem (2 awards) and Maxwell (2 awards). As always, the show was a lot of fun and gave everyone a chance to see some lives performances, at least we hope they were live, from some artists that they would not normally ever have a chance to see. Between Beyonce's incredible night and Lady GaGa's first performance, the entertainment world will be buzzing again for weeks.
