Lady Gaga's Cocaine Use, and Her Casual Admission, May Come Back to Haunt Her

Shocking Star Says Days of Doing 'bags and Bags' of Blow Are Behind Her, but She Still Enjoys the Drug from Time to Time

Lady Gaga discussed her cocaine use with Vanity Fair Magazine recently. This is not the first time that Lady Gaga has admitted to using cocaine, but given that she is bigger and more influential than ever before, her words are attracting more attention and many believe they can be more dangerous than ever.

Lady Gaga told the magazine that while she's "terrified of heroin", she does use cocaine occasionally. She said, "I won't lie; it's occasional. And when I say occasional, I mean maybe a couple of times a year."

She, however, does not want her fans to follow her example. She says she was a much heavier cocaine user in the past and it nearly cost her her career. She said, "I do not want my fans to ever emulate that or be that way. I don't want my fans to think they have to be that way to be great. It's in the past. It was a low point, and it led to disaster."

Lady Gaga's breezy admission of cocaine use, even if 'occasional' as she says, could be incredibly dangerous to her younger fans; of which she has many. Cocaine is widely acknowledged as an extremely addictive drug. While alcohol and marijuana both have inherent dangers, cocaine is addictive to almost anybody who uses it to excess.

While Lady Gaga has undeniable talent and seems to understand, as Madonna did a generation before, how to combine her music with her ability to create a shocking image, her exploits over this summer may eventually come back to haunt her.

Earlier in the year, Lady Gaga showed up at a Mets game and, after giving the finger to the crowd and causing a disturbance, was asked by Mets management to move to an empty luxury box (Jerry Seinfeld's it turns out).

A short while later, a half naked Lady Gaga appeared at Yankee Stadium and somehow made her way into the Yankees clubhouse, where she reportedly did a 'dirty dance' for several Yankees as she touched herself all over.

There is a fine line between shocking and clichéd in the entertainment business. While the antics at baseball stadiums may have raised eyebrows, however, the implicit approval of a dangerous drug such as cocaine will undoubtedly cause many parents of kids that are part of her fan base to re-think Lady Gaga and her message.

While Lady Gaga is about as big a star as there is right now, her casual admission of cocaine use is something she may ultimately regret.
