Laguna Beach Hotel Perfect for Sun, Sand, and Art Lovers

Laguna Cliffs Inn Hotel: A Review

Sandra Essary
Laguna Beach and the arts go together like milk and cookies. Each is good by itself, but their synergy creates something unmatched anywhere else. Add to that a great place to stay near the beach - like the Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel, and you have a recipe for a perfect weekend getaway.

Just one block from both the beach and a park that travel magazines have dubbed "the most beautiful park on the California Coast", the Laguna Cliffs Inn may at first look like a regular hotel/ motel. But just as it is in art, looks can be deceiving. Discover what the rooms look like, and you will find a boutique hotel with clean, well-furnished oceanview rooms at reasonable prices.

One point of note is that Laguna Cliffs Inn is recommended by GreenLagunaBeach.com as a lodging choice for people who are concerned about the environment. The Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel participates in a towel and linen reuse program and in the Laguna Beach Water Saving Program. Eco-friendly toiletries and other amenities are provided for guests.

Amenities

The U-shaped Laguna Cliffs Inn (picture 1) exceeds what you might expect out of a modest hotel. All of the rooms have been newly remodeled up to the standards of the well-respected Pacifica Hotel chain. One of the nicer amenities that the Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel offers free to guests is a welcome basket full of all sorts of snacks for watching the flat screen TV at night and breakfast items for your in-room coffee in the morning. Eat anything you like in the basket - pastries, muffins, bars, or fresh fruit - it's all compliments of the hotel.

Additionally, the Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel has a heated pool, whirlpool spa, and dry sauna. The large flat screen TV in each room has free HBO channels.

Rooms & Rates

The rooms at the Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel (picture 2) are very large and nicely decorated in a Mediterranean theme with earth tone fabrics. Beds are comfortable Beautyrest® beds with a plush duvet and luxury bedding. All rooms have free High Speed Internet and flat screen TV's. All rooms have a view of the ocean skyline or open air courtyard.

The 36 rooms in this boutique hotel come with air conditioning, hardwood floors in the bathrooms, and balconies with wrought iron chairs and a small table. Standard with every room is an in-room coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and a wet bar. Rooms have a separate dressing mirror and sink outside the bathroom.

If you are staying for awhile, take note that there are more than plenty of drawers for storage. If you can, spring for the extra large King Deluxe rooms (picture 3) with a nice sitting area. Ask for the rooms on the ends of the "U" for the best views of the ocean.

Rates are $165 - $300 depending on the room type and time of year (about $185 average).

What Other People Say

As mentioned before, GreenLagunaBeach.com recommends the Laguna Cliffs Inn for its efforts in saving the environment. On Hotels.com guests who have stayed at the hotel rate it higher than average for the area, and 92% of people who commented recommend the hotel.

On Trip Advisor the Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel former guests comment: "the lobby was airy, light, and breezy. The people working there were pretty friendly too." and "When I walked into my room my jaw hit the floor on how nice this place really is. Room is a very good size with a large comfy bed. Also has a nice baloney [sic] that you can (at least from my room) view PCH and get some views of the ocean... When it is quiet outside you could even hear the waves crash."

Things to Do

The 36-room Laguna Cliffs Inn hotel is within walking or short driving distance from the beach (picture 4), shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Right around the corner is Heisler Park, a beautiful place for a day visit to the beach, or for watching the sunset (picture 5). If you scuba dive, there is a marine preserve right off the Heisler Park beach.

When in Laguna Beach, be sure to see the Masterpiece Showcase (Pageant of the Masters), where real people make paintings by famous classical and contemporary artists come alive. If you go to Laguna Beach for the art (and who doesn't), visit the Laguna Art Museum. Also, check out the Laguna Playhouse for the latest plays.

To Sum It Up

Laguna Cliffs Inn is a quaint boutique hotel with top-notch amenities, the perfect location, and rooms that will pleasantly surprise you. For more information, call 1-800-297-0007 or 949-497-6645.
