Kenosha, WI 53140
United States of America
Kenosha is a city for nightlife. We have many, many hotspots to visit at night, especially near the lake in the Summer. One great bar, I often stop at is called Captain Mikes. Captain Mikes is a medium-small sized bar that hosts local bands on the weekends. One of my favorites being Matt Meyer and the Smoothriders, a blues, rock n' roll band with so much soul. They play everything from Jimmy Hendrix to Sublime, and many originals. You are guaranteed to have fun when this band is around. This bar offers 99 different beers, in a wonderful atmospere with a wooden bar and ship accents. Join in the fun by participanting in Live Trivia on one of the plasma t.v.'s.
Kenosha is also host to many festivals including the annual Steinhafels Outta Sight Kite Flight, Woofstock (a dog festival with lots of local bands), Civil War-Style Pig Roast , Civil War Days - The Road to Freedom , Art Fair in Library Park, Kenosha Pops Concert Band , Peanut Butter & Jam Noontime Concert Series , Peanut Butter & Jam After Hours , Pike River Rendezvous , U.S. Cellular Kenosha Days of Discovery Maritime Festival , The Tall Ships and more. Don't miss your chance to hang out on Kenosha's beautiful lakefront and enjoy our wonderful festivals.
My favorite stop for breakfast near the lake is called Frank's Diner. Frank's Diner is a train car renovated into a restaurant. It's a very unique place to dine; the food is made right in front of you on the griddle, so you know it's fresh. This is a great stop after a long night at Captain Mikes.
Ready for a quick lunch? Why not stop at Trolley Dogs. Located very close to Kenosha's Trolley is this great place to grab a Chicago Style Hot Dog, or even a brat. Kids love it because they can watch the Trolley go around the ceiling mounted track. Adults love it because it's quick, inexpensive, and near other attractions.
For dinner I would recommend Stonewall Grille. The food is to die for, steaks, seafood, and pasta, reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very luxurious and modern. A casual dinner/date, birthday celebration, or even New Years Eve are great excuses to stop here for dinner.
If you are interested in shopping, Antique shops abound. You can find just the right knick-knack to complete your collection. A little shop by my house is called the Bead Haven. There you can buy hand-crafter jewelry or create your own. I personally have a glass pendant from this shop that is one of a kind.
Kids love the Toy Laboratory. Adults love it too! You will find unique gifts and toys for every age here. Make sure you have time to waste because you will want to stay for hours.
Need a pick me up after all of the fun? Stop at Common Grounds for a java. You can enjoy it inside while viewing local art work or sit out on the deck and enjoy the beautiful lake view.
You really can't go wrong when spending a day near Kenosha's Lakeside. Take it from me, I live there!
