Lake Havasu City: A Different Spring Break Destination

Enjoying More Than Just Drunken Parties

Jean Marquit
Spring Break always brings to mind the classic quandary: where to go? It's true that many young people descend upon places like Miami and Cancun, and even Las Vegas. However, these places tend to get very crowded, and things descend into a horrible, drunken mess, culminating in nothing but a cycle of parties and hangovers. Going to Lake Havasu City, in Arizona, however, can remedy this problem. A good nightlife is essential in any Spring Break destination, but Lake Havasu City offers much more than just all night parties.

Lake Havasu has nightlife opportunities surrounded by unique daytime experiences. Kokomos is located on the lake, offers a view of the famous London Bridge (more on that later), and features a multi-level, indoor/outdoor experience. Additionally, the club's libations include a very strong specialty drink that adds to the fun.

But there are other ways to have fun in Lake Havasu City. It is located on the edge of both the Mohave Desert and the Sonoran Desert, on the border with California to the south and west of Kingman. There is plenty of opportunity for hiking in the midst of unusual scenery while staying at Lake Havasu. Other sites in the area include abandoned and historic mines, ghost towns, and wilderness areas featuring unique and indigenous wildlife and plants (including Saguaro Cactus).

And, of course, the fact that Lake Havasu City is located on a reservoir of the Colorado River is one of its main draws. Fishing and boating abound; you can even rent a paddleboat and explore the 45-mile-long lake that way. Water skiing, speed boating, canoeing, sailing, and jet skiing are also offered at Lake Havasu. Sightseeing tours of the lake, and its surrounding sand dunes and rugged canyons, are available as well. ATVs and other off-road vehicles can be rented for explorations.

Many people enjoy seeing London Bridge and its surrounding Tudor-style village. The London Bridge was dismantled to prevent its succumbing to the Thames and was reassembled at Lake Havasu. This is the actual famous London Bridge, and there is plenty of unique shopping and eating experiences in the vicinity of the bridge.

Other activities offered by Lake Havasu City include golf, miniature golf, iceskating (indoors, of course!), tennis, and a movie theater. The weather is especially nice around Spring Break time: not too hot, but hot enough that it is nice to go out and play on the water. Houseboat rentals are possible, and can make for a fun and unique way to find your Spring Break accommodations.

I live in Lake Havasu and its not just a drunk mess. I mean, it can be, but it has a diversity of people from young to old. I call this home. It has its ups and downs just like any other city does.

Lake Havasu can be anything you want it to be. I live in Havasu too, and the scenery is breathtaking. You can find the partys if you want, or find a peaceful area you can call your own. Spring break is the best time to come because the party is in one place. If you want to enjoy the desert in all its beauty - the lake is 30 miles long. Come see why I call Havasu home.

I have lived in Lake Havasu since I was born all it is is a drunken mess, the way you explain Vegas and Miami to be is not even close to the way Havasu is. We are number five I believe for the charts on the United States top Spring Break spots. If you want a some sex and get drunk and do drugs, go ahead come dow. If you want to enjoy Lake Havasu pick a time other than Spring Break, Memorial Day Weekend, and Labor Day weekend,.
