The popular bakery and deli traded in its checkered table cloths, crowded dining room and dogged ear appearance for a slick and stylish upgrade. Tile floors, an expanded dining room, new counters and display cabinets give Someplace Special an entirely new and trendy atmosphere.
While its look may have changed, Someplace Special Bakery and Deli is offering the same menu, which is good news for many of its loyal customers. Located at 67 Mulberry Avenue, off of McCulloch Boulevard (which is considered Lake Havasu City's Main Street), the eatery is open Mondays through Saturdays for breakfast and lunch.
Locals know Someplace Special for its low prices (usually lower than many of the franchise delis and sandwich shops), along with its fresh, homemade quality meals. Customers can purchase sub sandwiches prepared on freshly baked bread. They also offer burgers, soups, salads, along with hot sub sandwiches that feature a choice of meatball, sausage, barbecue beef, steak or chicken.
We first discovered Someplace Special over ten years ago. At the time our favorite item on the menu was the turkey sub, served up on a freshly baked French roll. These days our business office is located within walking distance of the eatery, making it a quick jaunt for lunch or breakfast. But, the main reason we keep returning is the price and quality. It is possible to purchase a fresh 6" sub for under $4.00.
Another favorite with our office are the breakfast sandwiches, available on a bagel, croissant or toast. These sandwiches, which can include an egg, cheese, and either sausage, ham or bacon, start at $2.65, making this a great breakfast meal value. The food is more homemade than fast food in quality, which gives this restaurant a high score with our staff.
Many locals gather at the Bakery-Deli for early morning pastry and coffee. Not only do they offer a full bakery, they provide catering services. They also provide delivery, for a nominal fee. After visiting the establishment, customers can take home a menu flyer, which includes not only the regular menu, but the daily specials for that month.
If you are looking for the deli that the locals frequent, add Someplace Special to your list, the next time you visit Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
