Lake Lurleen State Park Campground...Where To Stay for Work or Fun

Lake Lurleen State Park Campground, located at 13226 Lake Lurleen Road, Coker, Alabama may be just the spot to park your RV if you are planning on spending anytime in this area for fun or for work. Tuscaloosa Refinery is only 7 miles away, so this RV campground could be your home base while working a turnaround or shutdown at that refinery.

The RV sites at Lake Lurleen State Park Campground fall into four categories and each category is priced accordingly. The basic rv or campsite is just that, it is basic and only has water and electricity. This will be the least expensive of the four categories of campsites. The next least expensive of the campsites are the sewer site and the waterfront site. The sewer site is actually a full hook-up site, meaning that it has water, electricity and sewer hookups, but this one is not waterfront. The basic waterfront site is a basic campground on the waterfront. It does not have sewer hook-ups. The most expensive campsite is the waterfront sewer campsite. This campsite is a full hook-up RV site with waterfront. The daily cost for a basic RV site is $18 plus the lodging tax. The daily cost for a full hook-up site is $21 plus the lodging tax. The basic waterfront RV site will cost you $21 plus the lodging tax per night also. The full hook-up waterfront RV site has a daily cost of $24 plus the lodging tax. There is a 15% Senior Citizen Discount and 100% Disability Discount and the lodging tax is 8.5%. Weekly rates range from $108 plus lodging tax to $144 plus lodging tax and there is no Senior Citizen or Disability Discount. Monthly rates range from $400 per month to $450 per month and once again there is no Senior Citizen or Disability Discount. From March 1 to October 31 you will need to add $3 to each of the daily rates and the sites are rented out monthly from December through February only.

The Lake Lurleen State Park Campground has a 250-acre lake where guests can fish, but they will need a current Alabama fishing license, swimming is also allowed in the lake. Also on the property is a dump station, bathhouse facilities and a boat ramp. As with fishing, the guests using the boat ramp or operating a boat will need to have a current Alabama boater's license.

There are a few rules and regulations that guests must adhere to when staying here. First of all, no one under 18 years of age will be allowed to rent a campsite. Next is that the rates charged for campsites are for up to 4 people, but a maximum of 8 people per site is allowed as long as the extra people have paid to stay. There is a limit of only one main camping unit per campground site except kids under 18 can stay in another tent with a $5 plus tax charge. Pets are welcome as long as they are on a leash when not in the RV or camping unit and they are not allowed in the swimming area, on the beach, on the beach parking area or on the areas that adjoin these areas. There are signs that explain where pet can and can not be. Four o'clock in the after noon is check out time.

Lake Lurleen State Park Campground is not that far from other places that you may need to go to. There is a laundromat, Cleansing Tide Laundromat, only 9 miles away. A grocery store, Winn Dixie, is almost 5 miles away. Dollar General is 3 ½ miles and Wal-mart is almost 6 miles away. McDonald's is almost 5 miles away while Taco Bell and Sonic are about 7 miles away. There are two banks, Wachovia and Wood Forest, within 6 miles of the park and Med Express Primary Care Walk-in Clinic is 13 miles away.
