Lake Montowese Fireworks Display

Steven Jacob Borthick
Fireworks displays can be a fun event no matter where you go, but there's just something about being in a country environment and watching fireworks go off from across a lake that leaves an impression of awe.

Lake Montowese of Byrnes Mill, MO, annually has fireworks displays for the Fourth of July beginning at nine 'o clock and ending at nine-thirty. The display is entirely funded by the Lake Montowese community and the fireworks display is free-just walk in! Members of the community invite friends, family, church members, and many others to witness the display with them. Roll out those covers and get your bug spray-you won't be getting up until it's over! Many people will even take floating tubes out to the middle of the lake just so they can get a wonderful view.

Since the fireworks are shot from the dam and only the workers are allowed on it at that time, the fireworks can be seen from anywhere around the lake and the viewers are perfectly safe.

The displays alter between constant firing and bouts of dazzling lights. No matter what the sequences, the choreographers always manage to keep your attention the entire time. Since the lake community is entirely ran on its own, the same laws do not necessarily apply there as they do outside of the community. Homes surrounding the community may be able to shoot fireworks here and there, but since they're a part of surrounding town's regulations are set. Lake Montowese isn't a part of any town and therefore they make their own rules-and these people know how to have a blast!

well just to say, the article is a very well written article but it is wrong, it is not free for just anybody i live on the lake and i pay money for the fireworks, why should just any damn person just be able to come and watch it unless they are invited, ppl come down and watch it in the day care parking lot and that is bull, make them come and pay so much per person, the city and other places put on shows for average ppl like them, me being one of the up standing residents of lake montowese, i try to represent it the best i can, and im not saying names but this past years show could have had a better showing and bigger bangs i was kind of dissapointed and wished i would have not donated any money and went to my brothers house out of state, please if any body has anything to say comment back, and to all of the free loading ppl that want to watch for free, you can go to hell. but the author of this article wrote if very well and i would like to read some of his other work, good job stev

Oh yeah! I remember this now! I had forgotten. That was so much fun last year! It was absolutely beautiful, and it was a blast with the whole group hanging out for so long before that. I wonder if your mom is going to be interested in doing that again. That would be really cool.
