Twenty-seven year old LaKisha has been singing since she was 5 and has had formal training in, both, classical and opera singing. She has a strong gospel background, as well.
This single mom decided to put a possible singing career on hold, after the birth of her daughter. Even so, friends and family members continued to encourage her to pursue this dream. LaKisha is glad they did!
In July 2006, after moving to Fort Meade, MD., LaKisha decided to audition for the show a second time. Her first attempt was in 2003. The judges were notoriously tough. (Can you say Simon Cowell?) But, she made it anyway.
Even with her most recent accomplishment, she still has a long way to go. But she says she is ready for the journey. She hopes even if she isn't lucky enough to come out on top, God will somehow present her with another opportunity to get a recording contract.
In Lakishas eyes, the main goal of this whole experience has always been to create a stable life for herself and her little girl. By the looks of things, she is well on her way.
Out of the original 12 female finalists, LaKisha toughest contenders are said to be: Jordin Sparks, Gina Glocksen, Stephanie Edwards and Sabrina Sloan.
Every Idol contestant wants to be the big winner, of course. But, during the course of the shows history, there have been non-winning contestants that have gone on to be more successful than the actual season winner.
Season 2 and 5 favorites Josh Gracin, Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken, have all seen a great deal of success, after being voted off the show. So, all was not lost... but any means.
As you might guess, it takes more than luck to be the next American Idol. Even so, some finalists have taken it upon themselves to partake in a personal lucky ritual or two, before venturing onstage. What does LaKisha do? She sips a glass of cool tea and recites a little prayer.
The well-known reality show, American Idol has enjoyed tremendous success and is now in its 6th season. It is broadcast in over 100 countries. Approximately 30 MILLION viewers tune in, each week, to follow the progress of their favorite singer.

Post a CommentI like Lakisha. She is good but none of those people listed in the article can touch her. Lakisha's competition is Melinda Doolittle. I hope Lakisha wins because she could use the investment into making her a start, whereas Melinda is too saavy to be stuck in the 19E Management.
