Lamborghini Estoque: Another Four-door "coupe"

Take a Lamborghini, strap two extra doors to it, fit it with an engine from a Gallardo LP560-4, and you get the Estoque. And it's a handsome beast, the Estoque. Sure it's got four doors, and to me, having four doors, is almost like having four buttocks. Only a few cars, in my book, have four doors and look good. And this is one of them.

Lamborghini haven't gone for "gentleman" looks. The lunacy of an Italian design is still very much at play. We have headlights that will scare even the bravest of child, and a mouth that'll make even those with no imagination think there's a fighter jet ready to blast them with a million cruise missiles. The nose has very similar feature to the LP560-4 and the car styled after a fighter jet - the Lamborghini Reventon.

When you look at the rear, the story is the same - it's still a Lamborghini, still Italian, and still very, very good looking. The taillights don't resemble any Lamborghini of the past. They're narrow and long, but they do have the same characteristic of the tail lights found on the LP560-4, and the Reventon - the lighting pattern.

From the driver's seat, the story is the same - you'll instantly think you're a fighter pilot! The steering wheel could have been a joystick, like you find on fighter jets! The buttons are styled like the whole thing is ready to go to combat - and you're only taking your kids to school!

No, wait, that's wrong. Like the Panamera, the Estoque will be a nightmare for your kids. But for a different reason. See, the Panamera is ugly, appallingly ugly! The Estoque is menacing, brutal, scary! Your kids will duck and cover if they see one, just in case it fires a missile at them, or at their neighbor.

When you look at the rear seats, the story calms down though, and if your kids see that, they'll think it's cool and jump in. There's still military-styled buttons to play with, but at least your kids will feel safer there. Until, that is, you start the engine, and give the Lamborghini Estoque the beans. Then, the kids will realize you've trapped them in a screaming jet fighter, and you're giving them a hard time keeping their last meal inside.

That's because the engine is said to be lifted from an LP560-4. And it's a brute of an engine. 500+ horsepower is sure to give anyone a hard time staying awake; not because it's boring, but because it'll suck the life right out of you!

Where's Audi in this, I wonder? I'm pretty sure Lamborghini was doing this while Audi were working on something else, and didn't bother to check their email! There is nothing Audi-ish about the Estoque! Just like there's nothing Audi-ish about the Reventon. Maybe Audi got the right idea and decided to let Lamborghini do their thing while checking on the progress and making sure everything is done right, fits properly, and most importantly, works!

I'm not sure if I can call the Estoque a four-door coupe, but I'd love it even if it was called a sedan! It's an amazing car to look at! And I still look at it as a sport saloon, and that, I think fits perfectly with the car because it wasn't designed to go racing in, although you could, and you'd win, but it's made for comfort, luxury, and room; practicality over speed.

I've been into cars for a long time now. It started as a little kid when I started drawing cars for fun. My cars, though, did not have guns and fins on them, well, most of them didn't, to say the least. I fo...  View profile
