Lance Armstong Injured and Drops Out of Tour of California Race Hours After Doping Allegations Resurface
In a series of emails and letters sent to sponsors and sports officials, Landis alleged Armstrong not only joined him in doping, but taught others how to beat the system and paid the former president of The International Cycle Union to keep a failed test quiet. After the allegations surfaced Armstrong said "We have nothing to hide", at an impromptu news conference before the 5th stage of The Tour of California. "Credibility", Armstrong said, "Floyd lost his a long time ago."
Landis told ESPN he doesn't want to be part of the problem anymore and wants to clear his conscience. Landis alleged that Armstrong and longtime coach John Bruyneel, paid the former UCI president to cover up a 2002 test after Armstrong tested positive for the blood boasting drug EPO. The UCI denied the allegation. These latest allegations surfaced just hours before Armstrong's injury that caused him to drop out of the Tour of California competition.
