I am a make up junkie: my eyes are my best feature. So for 25+ years now, I've been buying and experimenting with every product out there trying to maximize my assets. From $5 drugstore mascaras to $50 high end department store products, I can honestly say I think you will get every penny's worth from Lancome Definicils.
There is a reason why this has won practically every Reader's Choice award as best mascara (from Glamour, Allure, and Cosmopolitan to name a few): it works! It isn't gloppy: you pull the wand from the tube and it's sleek, holding the perfect amount of color. The second I put it on my lashes, they were so long I looked in my side mirror just to check them out. Va-voom! I have average length lashes to begin with, but when I use this product I actually have people ask if my lashes are real. It's that good. I had one lady reach over the counter where I was working to touch them--I thought she was going to poke my eye out but evidently she just wanted proof I wasn't wearing stick-on lashes!
Lancome Definicils Mascara comes in regular or waterproof in your standard colors, black, brown and navy, depending on which formula you choose. If you hate those weirdly scented cheap mascaras from the drug store, you'll like that these are fragrance free. They are perfect for contact lens wearers as they don't irritate your eyes (they are Ophthalmologist tested.) I use the regular formula as I don't like to spend my entire evening in front of the mirror, removing my "face", and it stays put even in humid weather. Having lived in a sub-tropical climate, I was used to my make up hardly lasting beyond the air conditioned front door: Lancome lasted. There is also a new Definicils Pro formula that comes with a curved brush if you prefer that over their straight brush counterparts.
This retails for about $23 direct from www.lancome.com but you can also find it at girlie heaven Sephora as well as other department stores. If you decide to go the department store route, you might luck out with Lancome's gift-with-purchase. This will usually be a sample size of mascara, an eyeshadow, a lipstick or gloss, a sample moisturizer and mini size eye makeup remover. They are perfect for travel. If you've never used Lancome's Bi-Facil eye makeup remover, you'll find it on beauty editors Best of... lists every year in magazines such as In Style. This in itself is a wonder product, as it's not oily at all and takes off even the most stubborn eye make up.
Whenever I feel cheap, I might succumb to some new mascara from my local store. I always try these products, give them a chance, then pitch them after about a week. They are never as good as Lancome and I never get the same results. I always go back to Definicils because it looks and wears so fantastic--and that's a bargain. Live long, be gorgeous and prosper!
