Lancome "Ultra-Lavande" Nail Lacquers: Spring 2011

Gwendolyn Taylor
Lancome has recently launched their makeup and beauty collection for the spring 2011 season, and the theme is basically purple galore. With eye shadow palettes, shimmering lip glosses, and glossy nail lacquers, this collection will be a sure hit. What a better way to jump start the spring season with a pretty violet and a bold plum color, and their nail polishes are a simple way to do so.

This collection boasts two shades: "Violet Groove" and "Le 54". "Violet Groove" is a bold crème lilac color, bound to be an essential shade in your spring wardrobe. "Le 54" is a sheer, shimmering lavender color, perfect for those who shy away from the bolder colors and prefer subtle hues. Lancome nail polishes are "4 Free" (meaning that they do not contain the harmful chemical ingredients Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, and Formaldehyde Resin). The applications for both nail polishes are very smooth, and the formulas have a jelly like texture providing better flow and coat manipulation. Two coats are good enough for "Violet Groove" and the nice thing about it, it seems to maintain a high shine, and glossy look even after it has finished frying. "Le 54" on the other hand is best for pairing up with "Violet Groove" interchangeably, or on top of another corresponding shade for an additional shimmering effect. "Le 54" would look best when placed on top of "Violet Groove" and will appear like a match made in heaven on your nails. "Violet Groove" can pretty much complement any skin tone, but "Le 54" can be a bit mismatching on those with fairer skin tones.

The Lancome "Ultra-Lavande" collection nail polishes are now available at Lancome counters in department stores nationwide and on Lancome's website. Each individual bottle (0.34 oz) of nail polish retails for nineteen dollars. However, these nail polish shades do have dupes or at least very similar shades in other brands that retail for much less. So unless, you have to have these latest higher end label brand beauty products, then look to brands such as Rescue beauty Lounge and Revlon for their versions of these shades.
