The park is Just a short 25 mile drive west of Milwaukee and 1 mile South of HWY 94. The sights are truly breath taking.
Lapham peak is the highest point in Waukesha county Wisconsin. Lapham Peak is approximately 1,123 feet above sea level. There is also a 45 foot observation tower that you can climb to get a panoramic view of this pristine country side. To climb the tower in the fall of the year and have a look around at the turning of the leaves will leave the viewer breathless.
The park is also part of the scenic ice age National scenic trail system. The park has around 1000 acres of woodland and meadows for the nature lover in us all to enjoy.
The park has 21.2 miles of hiking trails. These trails will take you through both the wooded areas and meadow areas of the park. If mountain biking is more to your liking there are 5 miles of trails in the park for you to enjoy.
During the winter months the park has 17.2 miles of cross country ski trails for you. Two of these miles are even lighted.
The park has a few picnic areas for you to enjoy on your trek through the area.
If you want to have a group outing at the park there are also three reservable picnic shelters that you can reserve.
The hours of operation for this breath taking park are from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The winter hours are just a tad longer. The hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
