Laptops Vs. Desktops - Which Do You Prefer?

Jerry
The world today as we know it is ran by computers. Just about everything you can think of, can be looked up on the Internet through a computer. Computers are our main resource for information, business, products, people, etc.

So since computers are so important, just about everyone has a computer. About 95% of homes throughout the United States have at least one computer with Internet access. Just about everyone I know has a computer at home with Internet access these days, it's pretty much required!

When everyone starts getting computers, more and more computer-related products came out to meet demand. More and more people wanted smaller, more reliable and portable computers. Some even wanted computers that they could take with them to work, to shops, in their car, etc.

Hence the invention of the laptop computer. This invention revolutionized the computer world, however, do these pieces of equipment still compare to the qualities of a desktop computer?

Comfort
Contrary to what most people believe, a desktop computer is actually much more comfortable for me. I often type at long extents, and laptops will usually start stressing my hands after just a few moments. With my desktop computer, I have added a keyboard which functions much better than a laptop keyboard does, thus ending stress.

Not only is it easier to type, but I'm in a perfect up-right position all the time, at my desk. This is much better than slouching on a couch for hours at a time, in the long run.

Portability
Laptop computers have this won by far. It's quite impossible to take my desktop computer wherever I want. Laptops can be taken to just about anywhere, access Internet wirelessly, and a few other nice features that make them portable.

Durability
Watch out for those laptop monitors! Laptops tend to break easily. Desktops are more durable and aren't constantly carried around... these machines are going to last much, much longer.

Customizability
If you ever want to add anything to your computer, don't plan on getting a laptop. It's extremely hard to add parts onto a laptop, as well as expensive. Desktop computers are much easier to find parts for, and the parts are going to save you a lot of money in the long run since people are much more likely to influence their desktop computers.

Overall, I prefer desktop computers. However, nothing can beat the true portability of a laptop computer. If you're not planning on doing any intense gaming, and you're very gentle on computers, as well as don't plan to upgrade them, a laptop might be the way to go. Otherwise, get a desktop computer and save some cash!
