The founder and CEO of Larabar, whose name is simply, Lara, started making these delicious bars in her kitchen with a food processor. In Spring 2000, the Larabar was born and by 2003 was making its way into hungry bellies searching for something natural, healthy, and flavorful. (Source: Larabar.com)
I was amazed by the simple ingredients in each bar. It's truly all organic food - excellent for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike. For the die hard sugar cravers, I believe the Larabar would satisfy them as well. One example of the ingredients that goes into a Larabar is from the Cherry Pie Larabar - just dates, almonds, and unsweetened cherries. That's it! And it tastes absolutely wonderful. I feel like I'm eating a sugary sweet candy bar, but it's healthy fruits and nuts.
For all of you who are on gluten-free, soy-free, or dairy-free eating plans, the Larabar is a perfect snack for you because it is completely soy-free, gluten-free and dairy-free. Each bar I've tried has a very small amount of saturated fat, no cholesterol and absolutely no sodium. And as far as fiber content is concerned - through the roof. In one Larabar, the average fiber count is 4 to 5 grams. The average calorie count for one bar I've seen range from 180 to 210 calories per bar (these calorie counts apply to the ones I've tried so far - Cherry Pie, Pistachio, Apple Pie, and Key Lime Pie).
Larabars have a wide variety of flavors to choose from - Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, Pecan Pie, Chocolate Coconut Chew, Key Lime Pie, Pistachio, Banana Cookie, Ginger Snap, Lemon Bar, Cocoa Mole, and Cinnamon Roll.
The creator of Larabars - Humm Foods are all about organic, simple whole food going into each bar, which makes them healthy and delicious. They even have a new line bars called Jocalat, which are a line of organic chocolate-based bars. These are just as natural, healthy, and delicious as the original Larabars. (Source: Larabar.com)
So, if you're looking for a new snack that's packed with healthy, organic ingredients and energy that'll keep you going all day long naturally, you should give Larabars a try.

I discovered LaraBar at a Vegetarian Summerfest a couple years ago. It's always nice to have healthful and hearty natural snacks.
