Large Garbage Bags Buying Guide

Britt Baker
Do you have a large home project coming up? You probably are going to need some large garbage bags to get the work done! Some home projects you may need large garbage bags for are spring (or anytime of the year) cleaning, yard work, and home or room renovation. Here's a list of some great large trash bag buys on the market, for any large project you have!

Hefty has a variety of large trash bags available, many of them made specifically for use in the kitchen trash container. Their Tall, 13 Gallon Kitchen Bags are available have a cinch sack drawstring that allows for any easy close, which is especially helpful when you have messy kitchen garbage. They also contain a patch that neutralizes odor, called ActaZene. They are very durable and strong large garbage bags. Another product available from Hefty is their EZ Flaps 30 gallon trash bags. These large garbage bags provide convenient flap-tie closure, and are also very strong and durable. These are useful for larger projects, as they hold more than double the amount of Hefty's 13 Gallon Kitchen Bags. GLAD makes a variety of large garbage bags for various uses. One product available is their Handle-Tie Trash Bags. These are available in 30 gallon size and have built-in handles for convenience in lifting and carrying the garbage bags when collecting trash from various places. They are strong and sturdy, and are great for yard work, storage of decorations, tools, or even soft materials like sweaters or linens, and covering outdoor furniture or even the grill! GLAD also makes 30 gallon, drawstring closure large garbage bags. These are 30" x 33" in size, and are 1.1 mil. thick. Instead of fussing with a twist tie, you can grab on to the already built-in draw string for easy opening or closing. These bags are also great for outdoor projects. Seventh Generation is another company that makes large garbage bags, but with a pleasant difference compared to the Hefty or GLAD bags mentioned. Their bags are made from recycled plastic. Their kitchen garbage bags are made from 55% recycled plastic and their large trash bags are made from 80% recycled plastic. The kitchen trash bags have convenient drawstring closure, however their larger sized bags are a more environmentally-friendly choice, as they contain more recycled plastic. When deciding what large garbage bags to purchase, these key questions may help ease your decision:

What project will the garbage bags be used for?

What size and strength will be best for this project?

How many bags will I need for this project?

What features, such as type of closure, do I need?

Do I care if the bags are made from recycled materials or not?

Nice guide! I've found that some of the cheap brands work as well as the name brands. But, some cheap garbage bags are just that- cheap!
