Large Protests on Wall Street Ignored by News Media

An astonishing fact has been revealed: large protests are being carried out on New York streets outside of Wall Street buildings, rallying against the government's bailout rescue plan for investment banks, but none of these have received any news coverage whatsoever.

This is highly suspicious, especially considering there was much news coverage of the protests outside of Bear Stearns at the time of the investment banks collapse back in March. Why would more protests on an even more weighty issue affecting more Americans be ignored by all major news syndicates?

The protesters, railing against the government's plan to buy the worthless debt of Wall Street companies' bad investments, would be directly affected in the case of the bill's passing. The bailout bill, which was hastily put together by the federal reserve and the U.S. Treasury, was not only secretive but also contained small clauses that would have given full power and unquestionable authority to those who created it, demanding specifically that no other branches of government have any ability to interfere with their decisions. It called for $700 billion of taxpayer funded money to buy up bad assets in order to save Wall Street banks from bankruptcy and the US economic system from jeopardy. This issue is incendiary, and speakers in Congress have stated that they have never received so many e-mails, phone calls, and letters from their constituents in favor of rejecting a bill. Clearly all the feedback to congresspeople coupled with marches in the streets, has worried the government about the stability of the American people.

In a bizarre and shocking piece of news, it was revealed that a division of the US Army which is currently stationed in Iraq has been called back home to train for civil unrest and crowd control, and supposedly to undergo training for nonlethal weapons. The first brigade combat team, a segment of the U.S. Army's third division, was nicknamed "the Raiders" for its frequency spent in the midst of real combat scenarios. It has been forecasted for months that between gas prices, rising inflation, and the government's favoring of Wall Street over main street, it was only a matter of time before American citizens unleashed their contempt in the form of violent riots.

The media's purposeful avoidance of the Wall Street protests during the last week of September can only point to some possible truth of this, as frightening and it is hard to accept as it is. The protests can be viewed on video sharing sites such as YouTube, and although they are peaceful, they seem volatile and only steps away from certain explosion. Americans can only hope that these news pieces are only rumors or conspiracy theories, but the protests and the reactions they've evoked say otherwise.
