One of the most important largemouth bass fishing tips is to learn to fish many different lures and baits in different ways. Being able to present lures and baits in various ways to match the water and fishing conditions will make your fishing trips more productive.
Never underestimate the nightcrawler.
The artificial worm is probably the most versatile of all largemouth bass fishing lures. Always carry a wide assortment of lengths and colors. They are cheap as well!
The area of the water where direct sunlight and shade meets is often a productive area for largemouth bass fishing. Always hit tributaries, flats, and fish around vegetation. In fact, unless you have a specific destination in mind all structure should be fished. Any point of interest in the water might hold largemouth bass and is worth a few casts.
Don't forget the bug spray and sun block as not having these items can lead to a miserable experience. However, if you have ever sprayed bug spray into your mouth you know that it is not pleasant tasting. Be careful not to get these products on your lures, pole, reel, or line. Wash your hands after applying bug spray or sun block then get back to fishing.
Always cast with a plan. Simply throwing a lure in a random direction will of course occasionally catch a bass, but it is better to have a plan to systematically work the water efficiently. Practice casting to certain points to gain the skill needed to put that lure into a tight spot near cover.
Learning to catch largemouth bass on top water lures is a skill everyone should develop as catching largemouth bass in this fashion is a blast! Use minnow, frog or other imitations to swim alongside structure in the early morning and late evening for some exciting fishing. Artificial worms fished weightless are great as well. Seeing a largemouth bass burst through the surface of the water to inhale a top water lure is one of the great outdoor experiences.
The old adage 'big lures catch big fish' has some truth to it though is not foolproof.
My favorite two largemouth bass fishing tips are to fish as often as possible and keep a lure in the water. Too many fishermen and fisherwomen find too many reasons not to fish and then give up too quickly once they are on the water. Get out there and keep at it and catching more largemouth bass is almost guaranteed.
