Larry Birkhead Trademarks Anna Smith Words

Can This Get Any Weirder?

This has been the strangest drama to come along in a long time. First Anna Nicole's son dies in her hospital room on the day she delivers her baby. Then the paternity squabbles start, and for a while the list grew daily. Then all of the court antics with the 'crying judge'.

You knew it had to come. You knew among this cast of weird characters that it would come! Let's look at the list of infamy. There's attorney Howard K. Stern, the onetime forlorn boyfriend Larry Birkhead, 'mommy dearest' Virgie Arthur, and then bringing up the rear, Zsa Zsa Gabor's aging husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt.

You knew that one of them would figure out how to make money off of Anna Nicole. Dead or alive, there's gold to be panned off them dead cold bones, even if it was just to chronicle her life as a Playboy model.

Well we already know that Stern has an ongoing love relationship with Entertainment Tonight, and Stern and Birkhead reportedly signed deals with ET to film Anna's funeral and to give interviews to ET, Access Hollywood and several other shows.

But Larry Birkhead, a photographer and Entourage actor, has trumped up the ace. Earlier this month he trademarked the phrase "Goodnight, My Sweet Anna Baby" to use it in movies, books, TV programs, Internet programs and stage plays.

Larry says that this is what Anna used to make him say to her every night before she went to sleep. Birkhead posted a poem on his website last month that ended with, "My heart is broken, my tears are endless. She called me her angel, I called her my sweet potato, and every night before we went to sleep, she made me say to her...'Good night my sweet Anna baby'" Anna Nicole Smith 1967-2007.

Naturally Birkhead will profit from the trademark. Other celebrities have trademarked expression. Paris Hilton trademarked "That's hot!" and NBA coach Pat Riley trademarked "Three-peat" in 1988 when the L.A. Lakers were on the verge of winning a third championship...which they didn't!

Meanwhile Howard K. is having money troubles. The company that he and Anna created, Hot Smoochie Lips Inc has been shut down and owes back taxes to the state of California to the tune of $30,000. Now it looks like he could be evicted form the house he shared with Anna because this week the homeowner's attorney filed with the Bahamian courts to remove him.

This week Stern and Birkhead are fighting in Bahamian court for paternity of Dannielynn. Everyone including the baby has been swabbed. While Stern is on the birth certificate, Birkhead still maintains that he is the biological father.
