Larry Brown Coaching Rumors: 5 NBA Teams He Could Coach Next

Where Will Larry Brown Go from Here?

Bryan Mckinley
Larry Brown and the Charlotte Bobcats have now parted ways. What NBA teams will be looking to lure Brown into being their next head coach? He might be 70-years old, but they have medical staff on NBA teams for a reason.

Why would teams want Larry Brown as their coach?

Larry Brown took the Charlotte Bobcats from the cellar to the 2009 NBA Playoffs. That is what he does everywhere he goes. Unless, of course, you count that little hiatus in New York. Let's just pretend New York is the new Las Vegas. What happens in New York, stay's in New York.

Top 5 NBA teams that will call Larry Brown

Los Angeles Clippers - There have been rumors that Brown has already felt out his ground with the Clippers. Brown would supposedly become an advisor to the front office, and then find his way to the bench if the team does not improve in a year or two. The Clippers are losing at a common Los Angeles Clippers pace, but unlike most times in franchise history the future looks bright. The Clippers have some great young pieces to the puzzle in Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe and Eric Gordon. Chris Kaman is one of the best centers in the league, but who knows how long he will be there. The one obstacle in the way of Brown becoming the head coach here is the Clippers just hired Vinny Del Negro. It's hard to imagine Del Negro not getting one or two more years to get this team to grow together and fulfill their future promise. Am I a fool to believe this is possible?

Milwaukee Bucks - Milwaukee isn't too far off the kind of situation Larry Brown usually comes into, though they have been to the playoffs more recently than a team Brown would usually inherit. The Bucks have struggled this year and it's common nature for that to turn the heat on the coach. Sorry, Scott Skiles, but Brandon Jennings was hurt after the struggles started so you are still in jeopardy of being unemployed.

Portland Trailblazers - This is another team that would be in a lot better shape than teams Brown has been hired by in the past. Fans have wanted Nate McMillan gone for a while now and a coach can only use injury problems to protect his job for so long. Plus, Portland would never get to fire a coach again if a coach was safe when they had major injuries to blame.

Memphis Grizzlies - It's pretty obvious by now that 2010 will be the fifth straight season that Memphis has missed the Western Conference playoffs. Memphis has young talent and could be on the verge of turning that talent into results, as they showed in 2009. Memphis would seem like a natural fit for Brown. It is a team that hasn't seen the postseason in awhile, but that could be able to get there in the next couple of seasons. Only problem is, I can't see the Grizzlies paying a head coach how much the going rate for Larry Brown will be.

Orlando Magic - Maybe this one is here partially for entertainment purposes. The Orlando brass gave Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson pretty much a whole new team this season. Stan Van Gundy has led the Magic to the Conference finals and even to the NBA finals once. Even with that, is there reason to believe his job would be safe, if the experiment with their new line-up is a complete bust? What happens if the Magic go bust in the first or second round? Throwing Larry Brown on top of the heap of new additions would probably be a complete failure, but it would be an entertaining one.
