LARRY SPARKS and the LONESOME RAMBLERS

Born in Lebanon, Ohio in 1947, his chosen, quiet life in Southern IndiAna. a musician by the time he started high school, he made apperances with the legendary Stanely Brothers lead guitarist before he graduated, with the death of Carter Stanely in 1966, he became Ralph Stanelys right hand man, moving into the role with the Clinch Mountain Boys.
Three years later formed his own band, "The Lonesome Ramblers. became the favorite performers in the "bLUEGRASS BELT" that stretches from the Mississippi river to Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, on to Washington D.C. With his signature guitar he was known for his identifiable lick and resonate sound, In the late 70's he had two masterpieces, "John Deere Tractor" which made an instant classic, and another gripping album, "Love Of The Mountains" and Keith Whitleys "Great High Mountain" personally handed to Sparks by the writer.
He sang songs by the late Hank Williams, songs which revealed Sparks profound affinity for the Drifting Cowboys legacy.
In the 1980's, bluegrass dominated the progressive sound of Lonesome Ramblers. In 1991, he recorded another album creating another set of classics, including, "Tennessee 1949" "Blue Virginia Blue" And Don't Neglect The Rose"
Till the end of the decade, Sparks Lonesome sound and renewed admiration brought back appearances on the Ralph Stanleys star packed sat night performances. in austin City Limits 1995, Bluegrass he teamed with Stanely and Clinch Mountain alumnus Ricky Skaggs,
At the 1997 Bill Monroe memorial he did a tribute to Bill Monroe-the homage paid by generations of bluegrass and country stars.
Sparks not only deserves his accolades for past performances, but for the peek of his creative power.sparks had powerful stories like "Casualty Of War"
"The Old Coal Mine" "Hand In Hand" "Those blue Eyes Don't Sparkle Anymore"
and the remarkable "Goodbye Little Darling" members of the Lonesome Ramblers, includes Sparks son, Dee, Jackie Kincaid on mandolin, and banjo picker Randy Kohrs, fiddle master Stuart Duncan plus a couple of inspired guests teems like, J.D. Crowe and long time friend and admirer Mccoury.
