Las Cruces, New Mexico Coffee Shops: Popular Spots in the University Area
Neighborhood: University Area
Las Cruces, NM 88001
United States of America
The university area of Las Cruces, New Mexico has plenty of coffee drinkers; students, professionals and loungers can all be found at these three shops. All three have outdoor patios where smoking is allowed, internet access and great coffee.

International Delights is a lot more than a coffee shop. Wrapped around a courtyard style patio with a three-tiered fountain, it is one of the popular Las Cruces spots to find writers, students, locals and visitors from around the world. Wireless internet is available. The two part indoor dining area is comfortable. The patio is well shaded and fairly protected from the prevailing spring winds.

The varieties of coffee at International Delights are fresh and hot. A full range of coffee-based drinks give the customer plenty of choice, from cappuchino to espresso, from Arabic coffee to lattes. A wide range of teas, Italian sodas and juices give non-coffee drinkers plenty of choices. International Delights has an interesting and, in my experience, a very tasty menu from Greek salads to lamb kebobs, falafel and gyros and more. There are plenty of vegetarian options.

Another other noteworthy feature of International Delights is a well-stocked international grocery, perhaps the best in Las Cruces. You'll find teas, oils, pickles, olives and other condiments as well as rarer spices, condiments, cookies and crackers.

Spirit Winds Coffee Bar shares space with a well-stocked gift shop stocked with high quality handcrafted arts and New Age items. The shop is utterly browseable with colorful and intriguing items. Wireless internet access is available to Spirit Winds customers in side and in the sheltered patio that provides good shade in the afternoons.

Spirit Winds bar has a wide range of coffee-based drinks as well as juices, teas and flavored soft drinks. With less focus on international coffees and more variations on brewing, there's a coffee strength and variety for virtually every palate. Spirit Winds has a menu of light food for breakfast, lunch and early dinners.

Milagro Coffee is the purest coffee bar of the three here. Milagro is also the smallest but with the most enthusiastic customers coffee bar. A variety of coffee drinks are on the agenda, from plain coffee in three strengths to espresso and breve. There are plenty of Italian soda flavors, teas and even fresh squeezed orange juice. Milagro sells large quantities of hot coffee and a number of varieties by the pound.

Milagro's food menu is short and sweet, from bagels and brownies to cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. Milagro T-shirts and coffee mugs are on sale.

Milagro's patio is fairly sheltered from winds and afternoon sun. They do have wireless available to customers and are within walking distance of New Mexico State University. Don't pass up this little "miracle" simply because it's small.
