Todd Jacobs
Las Vegas has some of the best Irish pubs in the country and most are not on the Las Vegas Strip. Travel to the "suburbs" and find out that these Irish pubs have more than authentic brews on tap. They show all the soccer games including every World Cup soccer and rugby games.

From the city of Henderson just ten miles from the heart of the Las Vegas Strip to a location just a quarter mile off the the 15 freeway. If you are jonesing for some soccer and rugby, or a pint of your favorite brew you have some alternatives.

Fado' Irish Pub

Fado' is a franchise across the country so if your from out of town you may have one in your own town. From authentic Irish fare to the hard to find brews not sold at regular pubs and bars. Fado' has a great atmosphere. You can enjoy watching all the World Cup soccer games, English Premier League and UEFA soccer. Not to mention most Rugby games.

To get to Fado' from the Las Vegas Strip head South on the 15 freeway and then take the 215 East. Exit at Eastern turning right, head South. Fado' will be on the left hand side (East side of the street).

Three Angry Wives

Located in the Boca Park Shopping Center the Three Angry Wives Pub has been around almost ten years. Serving basic Irish food they are open 24 hours and have gaming also. Another great place to catch those early morning live soccer games and rugby games from overseas.

Located on the corner of Charleston and Fort Apache in the Boca Park Shopping Center you can get there with just one left turn on Charleston from the Las Vegas Strip. Head West and Three Angry Wives will be on the right or North side of the street just before Fort Apache.

Sean Patrick's Pub

Sean Patrick's Pub is located on Flamingo about ten miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Sean Patrick's is a franchise also. They do host Celtic music and also have the Irish favorites, Corn Beef and Hash, Bass Ale and Guinness. The people are a good mix of locals and out of town visitors but a higher percentage of locals.

To get to Sean Patrick's from the Las Vegas Strip simply take Flamingo West from the Strip and it will be just past Cimmarron on the left/South side. It will take about 20 minutes with normal traffic.

Crown and Anchor

The Crown and Anchor isn't actually Irish but it fits the mold of the other old style pubs so it earned it's way onto this list. The Crown and Anchor is the one place most English and Irish locals go to first especially if it is World Cup soccer time. At five in the morning on World Cup day you can't walk in the place, it is packed to the rafters with Brits, Irishmen,Scots and the lot. The variety of beer on tap is second to none and the wait staff is very personable. The Pub is frequented by Ricky Hatton who even shows up for his press conferences and the fights in a limo from Crown and Anchor.

To get to Crown and Anchor it is very simple. Take Tropicana Avenue from the Las Vegas Strip and Head East. When you have passed Maryland Parkway near the college it will be on your left/North hand side of the street.

McMullen's Irish Pub

If you head the other way on Tropicana you will run into McMullen's Irish Pub. The pub is possibly the most representative of an old Irish pub. They play live Celtic music every night and the pub is separated into rooms. The food is also possibly the most authentic of the five featured on the list. The menu includes Susan's Scottish egg, Irish sausage rolls and Blue Water lump crab cakes to name a few. See a full menu here .

McMullen's is easy to find, Take Tropicana West just past the Orleans. The cross street is Arville. It will be on the right hand side.
