Las Vegas Buffets: A Guide to the Cheapest and the Best

A Guide to the Las Vegas Buffet Scene

Em Robbins
A trip to Las Vegas is undeniably a commitment to indulgence, whether your type of indulgence is visual, gambling or otherwise. My favorite indulgence in Las Vegas is the buffet scene; for a fairly low price, visitors to Las Vegas can experience a wonderful array of international cuisines, and can stuff themselves to the gills with food just at their fingertips. There is a lot of controversy as to which Las Vegas buffet is the best to visit, but there are a few buffets in Las Vegas which consistently stand out for their quality, price and selection.

Village Seafood Buffet at the Rio

Hands down, the best and most highly recommended Las Vegas buffet is the Village Seafood Buffet in the Rio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The Rio Las Vegas is located at 3700 W Flamingo Rd in Las Vegas, NV. The Village Seafood Buffet at the Rio offers a ton of fresh seafood options, including raw oysters, and it is a great place to go if you love seafood in large amounts. It's a long walk back to the car from the buffet, though, so be careful to plan a rest at the poker tables or a slot machine to digest on the way back so you don't get cramps from your eating endeavors. The price of the buffet is $38, and they are open Sun. to Thurs. 4PM-10PM and Fri. and Sat. 4PM - 11PM.

Buffet at the Wynn

Fans of unbridled finery will enjoy the Buffet at the Wynn, which is located at 3131 Las Vegas Blvd S inside the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The Wynn Buffet serves breakfast Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and dinner is served 7 days a week from 3:30 to 10 p.m. On Sundays, there is a Champagne brunch from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The lunch prices for Monday-Friday are $21.95 and dinner prices on Friday are $37.95. The buffet is definitely a better deal at lunch, but offers a few options at dinner that aren't offered on the lunch segment of the buffet.

Bellagio Buffet

A head-to-head rival of the Wynn buffet is the Bellagio buffet, located at 3600 Las Vegas Blvd S in

Las Vegas. The buffet serves breakfast, dinner, and a Sunday champagne brunch. It is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. 7 days a week. It costs 21-30 dollars for the buffet, depending on the time of day. The Chilean Sea Bass at the dinner buffet is widely regarded as the best dish at the buffet, and considering the cost of ordering Chilean Sea Bass on its own, the Bellagio buffet is considered by many to be a better value than the Wynn buffet. The Bellagio is, in addition, a beautiful place to visit for its botanical gardens and wonderful displays of glasswork and decorative finery.

Terrible's Buffet

Terrible's buffet is certainly not the best buffet in Las Vegas, but it is cheap. Sign up for the Player's club and go at the right hour, and any visitor to Las Vegas can find an all-you-can-eat experience at Terrible's for under $8. Terrible's is very slightly off strip, near the Hard Rock Hotel, at 4100 Paradise Road in Las Vegas. The food is, at best, okay, but visitors looking to fill up without worrying about the flavor of their food can suck down a massive amount of cocktail shrimp, salad and desserts at this buffet, and save their money for the gaming tables. The pastries come moderately recommended.

Regardless of which buffet sounds best, it's a good idea to choose carefully. It is unlikely that any visitor to Las Vegas will be able to comfortably visit more than one buffet in a short period of time without splitting their pants open. Be advised; the dessert carts can be deadly to your New Year's diet resolutions.
