Las Vegas Lounges: 5 That Stand Out from the Crowd

S H
Bars and lounges thrive in plenitudes amongst the Las Vegas nightlife, but some are much better than most. Listed here are some of the very best lounges.

Firefly* on Paradise

3900 Paradise Road

Open Sunday-Thursday 11:30am-2am, Friday-Saturday 11:30am-3am

One of the main specialties of Firefly* is tapas - hot tapas, cold tapas, meat tapas, seafood tapas...there is a flavor for everyone here, and in prices ranging from $3 - $10, it's tough to go wrong with these delicious food choices. Of course, if you aren't craving tapas, there is also a smaller selection of entrees from $11 - $20 and desserts from $4 - $10.

The other specialty is the house sangria - marinated right in the restaurant for three days, it produces some of the strongest, most flavorsome sangria you will ever have. Each glass is around $6, or $24 for a pitcher. Special mojito cocktails are also available in both glass and pitcher ($7 and $30 respectively), $8 martinis, and a nice selection of beers, wines and after-dinner drinks. Happy hour is from 3-6pm every weekday, except for Friday when it's 3-5pm.

The service here is very fast and efficient, and the atmosphere is great for just about anyone, lively and upbeat while still remaining nice and relaxing. The main dining room is for non-smoking, but smoking is allowed pretty much everywhere else in the lounge. It is recommended that you make reservations, as the place gets very crowded, very fast.

Fontana Bar at the Bellagio

3600 South Las Vegas Blvd.

Open Sunday-Thursday 5pm-2am, Friday-Saturday 5pm-3am
Bar is open 24 hours.

Whether you're staying at the Bellagio hotel or not, this lounge is a must-see. Fantastic food in an extensive variety from Mexican to seafood and strong, classic cocktails (all of which are pretty pricey, but not so bad for Vegas) make up just part of the experience, as much of it also lies in the wonderful atmosphere.

Excellent live music is featured here - with no cover, no less - and what really tops the cake is the outdoor patio - you should make sure to get a spot out here, as you'll be situated right next to the beautiful Bellagio fountains and water show. This lounge makes a great place for a date or a relaxing night out. There really isn't another experience like it.

Eyecandy Sound Lounge & Bar

3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Mandalay Bay

Bar is open daily 11am-5 am.

Sound lounge is open nightly 6pm-4am.

Right in the middle of Mandalay Bay's casino is the Eyecandy Sound Lounge & Bar, one of the most unique experiences you will ever in a bar. Aside from the bar and small dance floor and comfy seating taking up the area, what really makes this place stand out from the crowd is its high-tech interactivity. Touch-tables let customers create visuals to project onto screens above the dance floor, enabling everyone to create and control their own nightlife experience. This along with huge shots and fast, attentive bartenders (no cover charge, either!) make this establishment a place you definitely should not miss.

Mix Lounge at THEhotel

3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Mandalay Bay

Open daily 5pm-4am

At the top of THEhotel sits a very chic establishment that offers outstanding, decently priced cocktails, a great bar menu, and catchy DJ-spun music in the background. It's best to reserve a table here, if you want to stay indoors, but one of the best spots in the place is to take a step out onto the balcony and take in the gorgeous view of the Strip. If you're hungry for more than just bar food, the Mix French-style restaurant is adjoining. Service here is very friendly and helpful, with charismatic bartenders who really know their stuff.

There is a cover charge of $25 on the weekends, $20 on weekdays, and $10 everyday for THEhotel guests. Local ladies always get in free.

Icehouse Lounge

650 South Main St.

Open Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday-Thursday 10am-12am, Friday 10am-3am, Saturday 9pm-4am and Sunday 8pm-3am.

The Icehouse lounge is a very laid-back establishment great for the young and older crowd alike. The drinks here are really great, but if you want food it's probably best to go somewhere else - they definitely don't specialize in cuisine here. 2 floors and a patio take up this place, with bars on both levels, each with a real ice layer over the bar so your drink will always stay cold. Aside from this unique touch, the music here is always great, along with the quick and personable service.
