Las Vegas Rescue Mission Under Construction: Their Help Continues to Grow

A Non-profit Organization Helps Those in Need

As I walked down west Bonanza Street this morning in the raising high temperatures of the Las Vegas valley, I peered up to see a large sign which read " Jesus Saves." This unique landmark site is not that of any other but the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. With the two words forming a cross which stands above traffic it is not easy to miss. On this stretch of road now construction vehicles work around the new infrastructure on the nearby highway. The property where the charity is located is under renovation as well. Expected to be opening as early as April of this year, a new dinner hall and technical training center will set apart this site from other assistant agencies.

Open in 1970 by a group of six local businessmen the church program within offers more than just the words of God. Now more than 200 affiliated faith based programs are apart of this mission to share the teachings and religious source of Christianity. Many homeless women, men, and children crowed around the thrift store on the property to receive from it's donations. While the public may come in and shop, those in need are welcome too to be given basic clothing. In this town without being employed or able to buy for one self it is difficult to find the right help. As i walked into the store I noticed that the entire working staff inside is fueled by volunteers. This is due to the simple use of personal resources available to the mission: it's own recovery center.

Based on faith, and the demand of unfortunate persons, this site is responsible for numerous services. Not only can a person addicted to drugs or alcohol find salvation from their problem, they immediately become of assistance to others in need. Over a three hundred people capacity can fill the recovery agenda. When there is no place for homeless men and women to turn; their Shelter of Hope is always open and provides a warm bed and a structured help up to redirect the lost. Along with the thrift store being open during certain days of the week for regular business and the donations program. Throughout special occasions of the year, meals and church services are offered to the public to involve those with care and rejoicement.

The Rescue Mission is operated by donated funding, foods, clothing, and household items which are sold or given away in the thrift store. Tours of the grounds are also open to the public and encouraged by groups , or schools. If you would like to learn more about this charity, please go to the online web site at www.vegasrescue.org. Open year round to locals and tourists, this is a great place for any one looking for help.
