Las Vegas Themed Wedding Ideas

J. Darling
When planning a wedding many brides and grooms are following the trend of basing the decorations, color schemes, and activities around a particular theme. While Las Vegas is synonymous with elopement, it's also known for glamour, bright lights, and lots of fun. Just because a couple isn't holding a destination wedding in the actual city of Las Vegas, that doesn't mean they can't incorporate a little Vegas flair into their festivities.

Las Vegas Inspired Invitations
There are some invitation manufacturers who sell Las Vegas themed "save the date" cards like these from Wedding Paper Divas. Your local printer or graphic artist can work with you to create Las Vegas invitations that are more specific to your needs. Simple white invitations with black font and a design of the trademark Las Vegas sign or an image of playing cards and dice would work well with this theme.

Las Vegas Wedding Attire
For a Las Vegas wedding, draw inspiration for your color palette from red, white, and black. You don't have to go all-out when having a theme wedding; you can simply incorporate designs from the idea of Vegas. The bride could wear a knee-length or tea-length white dress with black accents, which are very in style. Because the dress reveals the bride's feet, accessorize with a black heel in a Mary Jane style or another retro styled pump. The groom's tuxedo could be boldly pin-striped or all-black, and bridesmaids could wear vibrant red or burgundy gowns. Bouquets could be white or red with black containing other coordinating accents, like feathers which are often seen as part of a Vegas showgirls' costume.

Las Vegas Wedding Decorations
Consider decorating the aisles with floral arrangements similar to the ones carried by the bridal party or have each aisle marked with an arrangement made from large, fluffy feathers and ribbon with a playing card tucked within the piece. Incorporate red further into the decoration by strewing rose petals (real or faux) along the aisle runner.

When decorating the reception area, consider using the black, white, and red color scheme. Tables can be draped with black linens and a white table runner. Use white charger plates and either black or red dinnerware. Scatter rose petals along the white runner and create a centerpiece using either a simple clear vase with a red floral and feather arrangement or a centerpiece featuring simple but elegant floating red votive candles. If you feel that black tablecloths are too dark, switch around the color scheme to use white linens and a black table runner. The end look will still be elegant. Bolder couples may want to set up a blackjack table to give guests added entertainment.

I was married in Vegas, but it was more of a 'back East' wedding....of course, we lived there so weren't into the glitz and glamour:)
