Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation or LVR is a new procedure being done on women to enhance sexual gratification. This laser technology is done in one hour or less and is an outpatient procedure. The reason women have this procedure is to enhance vaginal tone, strength, and control. This procedure will also decrease the internal and external vaginal diameters, meaning it will almost be as if you're a newly virgin. The perineal body will also build up and strengthen.
When women's bodies go through changes of motherhood and old age, it can put a strain on our bodies. This is also the same for the vaginal area. The result of this strain is called vaginal relaxation. When vaginal relaxation happens the muscles become relaxed and have poor tone, strength, and control. The internal area and external area also increase in diameter. Muscles of the perineum are weak and are also poorly supported. Because of these circumstances, the vagina is no longer at its optimal physiological state. This will also cause the sensual side of sexual gratification to diminish. Many women are choosing to have this procedure done as a way to enhance their sexual desires and experiences again.
Besides enhancing sexual gratification many women have this laser surgery for medical purposes. One of these purposes is urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence happens because the bladder becomes weak. Women then have problems with controlling the leakage of urine. This can occur by a woman sneezing, laughing, exercising, coughing, or having sex.
Women who are seeking to have this procedure done will have to have pre-surgical consultation, as well as a thorough exam from a gynecologist. Patients will be counseled and educated about what to expect, risks involved, benefits, and possible other options. When Vaginal Rejuvenation is done the patient is put under local anesthesia, which means she is awake. Some patients may choose to be put into a conscious sedation to help them feel more relaxed and comfortable.
After surgery it is important that the patient rest and not overdo activities on the first day. Many women will be able to return to work within four to six days. Six to ten weeks after surgery, sexual activity can resume. When sexual activity begins again, it has been said that women can tell the difference right away!
