Lashes, Latisse and Length

The Truth Behind the "new" Lash Growth Serum

BillyLowe
As most of my readers know, I'm one of the Hollywood liaisons for Xtreme Lashes and over the past few years I have covered, watched, researched and studied the eyelash industry including everything from mink lashes, Revita-Lash, Jan Marini, Allergan cases, eyelash extensions, transplants - you name it.

The eyelash extension industry (in whatever form) is going nowhere as everyone is talking about longer, thicker and more luscious looking lashes. I read a CNN article today, and the world has been convinced that the new Latisse product is a revolutionary new concept never having been presented before now, when in fact it has been around (ill gotten or not) for quite some time. The drug - originally used for glaucoma patients - was found to have some interesting side effects including longer/darker lashes. In fact, many women who didn't even have glaucoma were asking doctors to prescribe this glaucoma medication for them so they, too, could have longer lashes.

ENTER THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY.

Revita-Lash and Jan Marini were among the first and most visible to put out a lash "growth" serum (questionably using ingredients in the glaucoma medication) but had their hands slapped by the FDA because of ingredients and cautions, and a huge battle w/ Allergan. Every trade show under the sun was talking about these new magical potions that gave us longer, darker, more sexy looking lashes. And of course since Revita-Lash donated a huge portion of profits to breast cancer - what better way to take center stage than for Allergan to follow suit with its own Latisse.

How long do results last? That's like asking how long your car will stay shiny and clean. As long as you keep up w/ services, you'll continue to see results.

Your natural lashes only have a life cycle of 60-90 days and fall out at the end of their natural life cycle. When old lashes fall out, new ones grow in over time. Therefore, if you discontinue your applications, you will no longer see the results. Whatever product you choose, be it topicals or eyelash extension applications, there are many wonderful options for clients and patients who want longer, thicker, more romantic looking lashes.

My only tip on this is that with eyelash extension applications, you can customize your look (varying lengths, thicknesses, colored lashes etc). With eyelash treatment serums - be patient, be consistent, and BE CAREFUL.

I hope this information was insightful and educational. More to come soon.

This product works really well. I couldn't use it as I had a bad reaction.
