Lashley TKO's Sapp; Improves to 4-0 in MMA

Former WWE star Bobby Lashley looked very impressive in defeating dangerous Bob Sapp by first round stoppage in the Ultimate Chaos main event on Saturday. In the opening seconds of the fight, Lashley took Sapp down hard and applied effective ground-and-pound, busting Sapp up with big rights and lefts until Sapp tapped out to strikes at 3:17 of the first round. With the loss, Sapp's record now stands at 10-5-1. Sapp, who outweighed the 255-pound Lashley by almost 70 pounds, had almost no offense and tried to cover up to big shots, but to no avail. This was Lashley's fourth consecutive win in mixed martial arts, and the biggest one in his young MMA career. Lashley is still undefeated in MMA and has been very dominant in every single win.

Bobby Lashley got his start in wrestling when he attended Missouri Valley College. While in college, Lashley became a top amateur wrestler, winning three national wrestling championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998. After college, Lashley joined the United States Army, where he continued to wrestle. Lashley signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in late 2004, and became a main-eventer in the company, only a year later. He would get moved to the ECW brand in late 2006, after performing mostly on SmackDown. Lashley would win the ECW Championship twice in two years before leaving the WWE and focusing on his mixed martial arts career.

Lashley is the second WWE superstar that is excelling in the MMA world, first being Brock Lesnar, who is the current UFC heavyweight champion. Lesnar and Lashley have many similarities. Aside from being in pro wrestling, both have been college wrestling champions, both are huge physical specimens who are very agile for their size, and both even had the same ring entrance in pro wrestling, jumping from the floor onto the ring apron. A fight between these two could very well happen in the future and it would be a huge event.

As an MMA fighter, Lashley has three, first round stoppages. His first MMA win was against Joshua Franklin by first round TKO because of a cut. His second win was against trash-talker Jason Guida, as he was taken the distance for the first time in his career, but won every round easily. Lashley would earn his first submission win, when he would submit Mike Cook by guillotine choke, in only 24 seconds. His first round win against Sapp will go in the books as a submission victory because Sapp tapped.

The future seems very good for Bobby Lashley. There is no word yet on what Lashley will do next, but he has a few options, and could join the UFC in the near future.

I'm hearing that he likely will be signing with one of the big organizations like the UFC, Strikeforce or Affliction here pretty soon for his next fight.
