Last Minute Christmas Gifts for Teachers

With the rush of the holiday season, it is easy to forgot one of the most important people to your family: You child's teachers. You might have multiple teachers whom take the time to learn how your child learns and teach them specific skills. The most obvious one is the teacher in your child's school. But you might also have music teachers, coaches, and Sunday school teachers. A small Christmas gift goes a long way to make them feel remembered at this time of year.

But what do you get a teacher? Apples? Of course not! You want to get them something personalized from your child or something that might be a special treat for them. But you forgot until just a few days before Christmas and the school is on Christmas vacation starting tomorrow! So what do you do? This article will give you some ideas.

Skip the coffee mugs. They are easy to get at the last minute, but teachers have tons of these. But gourmet coffee is a pretty good choice - especially some of the more expensive (like $15 dollars) at the small coffee roaster in your local town. Many teachers are on tight budgets and this is one of the items that gets sacrificed.

One a similar note, getting the teacher a gift certificate to a special local restaurant is also a special treat for the same reason above. You need to ensure that your get enough on the certificate to cover two people though because you do not want your gift to place a financial cost outside of the person's normal budgeting situation. These are fairly easy to get even on Christmas eve because restaurants are often more open than a retail store at the last minute.

A Christmas tree ornament with your child's name on it and the year he/she was in the class also makes a unique and personalized gift. You can also customize this. For example, if the kids took a class trip to the zoo, try to find a zoo like animal to have customized. This makes the year, the child, and the gift memorable.

Lastly, a very easy last minute gift to do or to include with another small gift is a kind, hand written note praising and recognizing their hard work and dedication to your child. Many teachers only hear complaining from the parents all year. Make this time of year a time when the teacher hears something positive for a change.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you either make it a kind of special treat for the person or personalized for your child. The odds are that you do not know the person very well, yet they are very important in your child's life. So make sure you do something for that teacher for this holiday season - even if it as at the last minute.
