People are scrambling around for last-minute gift ideas and looking for nearby Barnes and Noble locations. For those of you who need to buy Christmas presents at the last-minute, here are some affordable and tasteful gift ideas, as well as some tips on last-minute gifts you should not buy.

Barnes and Noble Locations

Last-minute shoppers looking to finish their Christmas shopping are rightly turning to Barnes and Noble. Novels and best-sellers can be found as last-minute gifts for readers in your life. Why is Barnes and Noble so popular for last minute gifts? Probably because you can find something for everyone there.

For people who like coffee table books or have niche interests, Barnes and Noble has a wide selection of discounted books.

Not sure which last-minute gift to buy for someone? There is a wide variety of calendars.

Finish your last-minute shopping for kids with a trip to the children's section. In addition to classic books for all ages, and new stories based on TV characters you can find plus toys, educational toys and games and puzzles.

For your single cousin or wild uncle? Wrap up the latest issues of Playboy and FHM from the magazine section.

Find last-minute gifts for foodies in the cafe.

You can even buy the non-reader gifts at Barnes and Noble, when you head to the DVD sections and CD rows. They also have gift cards. You can find a Barnes and Noble location here Storelocator.barnesandnoble.com.

Last-Minute Gift Ideas

For a woman: buy her a pair of diamond studs a charm for a bracelet, a sexy anklet, or whisk her off to a post-holiday spa weekend.

For a handyman: If your man is handy buy him a gift card for Home Depot.

For parents: a gift bag of batteries. When you have kids you need batteries for everything. Buy a package of AA batteries, AAA batteries, 9 volt batteries, C batteries and D batteries.

If you really want to make them happy, buy a battery charger with some batteries to go along with it.

What Not to Buy

If you have not bought your girlfriend, wife or fiancee a present yet, do not panic. Stay out of the vacuum cleaner aisle, the appliance store and the lingerie aisle when shopping for last-minute gift for her. The first and second ones benefit everyone in the house, and the last one benefits you.

Stay away from pre-assembled baskets of floral and low-quality shampoos and soaps. Women get attached to their locks and their hair care products, so unless the products are from a specialty salon, skip them.

Do not buy a woman any hair removing device or exercise equipment unless she has specifically requested one of these items.

Do not buy a man a cheap tool. He won't be happy when his new powerless drill has a battery life of 10 minutes. Let him pick the tool (give him a home improvement gift card, he'll be happy).

Also skip Christmas sweatshirts, Christmas coffee mugs, and cheap perfumes and colognes.

Sometimes it's better to give nothing at all than a receive a forced thank you for a poorly-chosen gift.

The photo made me smile and last minute gifts are going to be hot this year, I think. I heard a bunch of people talking about doing some last minute shopping, including some family members.

Excellent job on this! Books are always a favorite gift in this house. Your tip on the home improvement stuff is very accurate. I work p/t at a home improvement store and people always are returning gifts, but they use alot of gift cards.
