In my opinion, boyfriends are the hardest people to buy presents for during the holiday season. Whenever you ask them what they want they say, "I dunno". It's so tempting to just not get them anything since they give you nothing to work with. I have found myself having to buy last minute holiday presents for my boyfriend practically every year. I put it off because I figure he will eventually tell me something to get him, but he never does. Here are some of the things I've thrown together for my boyfriend's Christmas present in the past.

One last minute gift idea for your boyfriend for the holidays is a household item he might need. Take a look at his apartment, house, dorm, etc. Is there anything he needs? For example, my boyfriend didn't have sheets on his bed. He slept on a quilt and then covered up with another quilt. Also, his pillows were so old they are practically flat. I went out a few days before Christmas and bought him new sheets and pillows. The good thing about buying your boyfriend household items as a last minute holiday gift is that they will be pretty easy to find. Stores typically don't run out of coffeemakers or towels around the holidays. Also, you can find household items at pretty much any store, so you don't have to go to a specialty store. That really simplifies things. Getting household items for your boyfriend during the holidays might not be romantic, but it's easy to do last minute and it's something that he will actually use throughout the year, maybe even every day.

Another last minute holiday gift idea for your boyfriend is a gift card. I know people say that gift cards are impersonal and tacky, but let's be honest we all like to go shopping without actually having to spend money. I bought so many gift cards last year at the last minute; I'm talking Christmas Eve last minute. I had about five people I had to buy gift cards for, and of course they were all from different places. Instead of going to five different stores and worrying about what time they closed on Christmas Eve, I went to Tom Thumb and shopped at their "Gift Card Mall". Their selection was incredible. I found each gift card I needed and it only took me a few minutes because they were organized into categories such as electronics and clothing. You can always make a gift card more personal by getting a card to go with it or by picking a card that represents your boyfriend. I've known plenty of guys who have dogs (or other pets) that they are way too attached to. Sometimes you even wonder if they like you or the dog better. You could buy some toys for his dog, or maybe even a new collar. If you wanted the dog to love you even more, you could buy it some treats. Anything you wanted to buy your boyfriend's pooch could be bought at a pet store or even Wal-Mart. This might not seem like a present for your boyfriend, but if he loves his dog as much as my boyfriend loves his dog Rowdy trust me he will love the gift and be grateful.

Let's face it, our boyfriends love to eat. They will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. That's why my next idea for a last minute holiday gift is a gift basket full of his favorite yummy foods. You will need a wicker basket and a bow for the basket. If you want, you could even use a laundry basket so he could put the basket to use after the holidays. Then, you simply fill the basket with his favorite treats! If he loves beef jerky and Dr. Pepper, fill it up with that. If he has a sweet tooth, you can fill it up with tons of delicious candy. This gift is good for last minute, because you can buy a basket, a bow, and food pretty much anywhere (and you can always sneak some food out for yourself when he's not looking).

The final last minute holiday gift idea I have for you to give your boyfriend is probably the most romantic (and my favorite). Cook him his favorite meal and dessert, light a few candles, turn on that romantic music, and crack open a bottle of champagne or sparkling cider. Have a romantic dinner with just the two of you. The great thing about this gift is that you can do it on the holiday you are celebrating, or you can give him a coupon for a romantic dinner. We tend to stress during the holiday season, especially if we wait until the last minute to buy gifts, and I think our relationships sometimes suffer from that. This last minute gift idea will remind you what the holidays are really about, and will let your boyfriend know that even though you might be stressed and cranky you still love him.
