Last Minute Holiday Gifts Under Thirty Dollars

Lisa Riggs
It's happened to all of us. With great intentions of being finished holiday shopping before the Thanksgiving leftovers are eaten, it's suddenly time to swap gifts and your stash is just a little too light. With a limited amount of funds left to fill in the gaps, panic can easily begin to set in. Here are some fun gift ideas that you can easily pick up and wrap at the last minute that won't set you back more than thirty dollars.

Coffee Shop Gift Bag. If that loved one you need to buy for can't live without a daily dose of caffeine, this gift is sure to please. Purchase a few bags of ground or whole bean coffee and mug with the shop's logo. Place in a festive gift bag and cover with colored tissue paper. Your gift recipient will think of you every morning when perking up a pot of the fragrant and delicious brew.

Lottery Tickets and Holiday Card. If that last person on your shopping list is a gambler and enjoys the thrill of scratching off lottery tickets, a nice stack of them is a winner of an idea. Tuck an assortment of holiday themed scratch off tickets into a festive card. One just may be a big winner.

Convenience Store Gift Card. Those daily trips to the local convenience store can really put a dent in the monthly budget. A twenty five or thirty dollar gift card to your loved ones favorite corner store can keep them in coffee, newspapers and bagels for a few weeks after the holiday. This may seem like a very unexciting gift, but it will surely be appreciated.

Christmas Tree Ornaments. The closer it gets to Christmas day, the deeper the discount on holiday decorations. A few days before the holiday is a wonderful time to stock up on ornaments for the tree. Fill an inexpensive wicker basket with a variety of traditional and modern ornaments. Mixing up the colors and styles will create a stunning visual display. Tuck sprigs of holiday greenery in the corners and top off with a brightly colored bow.

Winter Essentials Gift Box. December is definitely the month to stock up on gloves, hats and scarves. While these items were full price in the beginning of October, retailers must move out these seasonal pieces to make room for Spring and Summer wear. A decorative box can be filled to the brim with a selection of winter necessities for around twenty five dollars. Add a pretty tea cup and a few boxes of flavored tea to round out the gift and keep you within budget. These items will definitely come in handy during the last weeks of the season when temperatures are at their lowest.

Fireplace Kit. Does your loved one regularly use a fireplace during the winter? An open wicker basket can be filled with firewood, scented fire starters and a box of wooden matches. Add a plaid bow to the handle for a very festive presentation.

Don't let your lack of time and a limited budget keep you from honoring all those special people in your life this holiday season. A thoughtful gift tailored to the recipient's personality and lifestyle is always much appreciated, no matter the cost.
