Last Minute Summer Vacations

Brooke
Summer is sneaking up behind us, whether we like it or not. Before we even know it, summer will be here and most likely no trips will be planned. This is where the spontaneous last minute summer vacations come in. It's not the destination that will make last minute summer travel leisurely, but the surroundings. For instance hotels along one side of the beach may usually be booked, while on another side may remain completely empty throughout summer break. Wouldn't you want to know in advance?

Last minute summer vacation spot #1: Something about them draw us in like moths to a lantern. They radiate peace and beauty as they glide through the serene waters. Interacting with the marine life at Sea World is not a bad way to go in the way of last minute summer travel. Tickets are sold year round for $64.95 for children and $74.95 for adults. While the Renaissance Resort and Marriot are nearly always booked, hotels like the Sheraton normally have rooms available and are a fair bit cheaper.

Last minute summer vacation spot #2: Waves smashing, feet sinking, sand soothing, seagulls calling; nothing can beat the Santa Monica Beach. Depending on your current location, this last minute summer travel will be worth the potentially long drive there. Once you step foot on the gorgeous sugary sands of the Santa Monica Beach leaving will seem hardly a possibility. Hotels such as Days Inn are only $92/night and are excessively close to the beach.

Last minute summer vacation spot #3: The timeless chiseled piece of history we call the Rocky Mountains of North Carolina remain full of life and buzzing with tourists. With so much to do in the small town of Boone it's hard to know where to begin. From Tweetsie's Railroad Family Theme Park, to the Mystery Hill Museum, you won't regret this last minute summer travel. Because of hotel rates as low as $55 a night, Boone vacations are extremely affordable.

Last minute summer vacation spot #4: Get caught up in the magic and excitement of Disney World. From swimming with real sharks at Typhoon Lagoon, to enjoying cuisine from 11 different countries at Epcot. The only problems with last minute summer travel to Disney World are the expenses. Though there are ways to avoid expenses through cheap hotel rates. For example the Regal Sun Resorts have rooms available for as low as $89/night with character breakfasts, scheduled transportation, recreational kids zone, heated/lap pool, and much more.

Last minute summer vacation spot #5: Busch Gardens is an incredible mixture of high-flying action and European charm. Ride their adrenaline pumping, spine tingling, breathtaking roller coasters and get ready for their incredible drops. Last minute summer travel can be a bit hectic at times which is why Busch Gardens is the perfect place to go to cool one's nerves. Hotels rates for places like the Econo Lodge and Days Inn as low as $40/night are available at Expedia.

I grew up in South Carolina and moved down to Florida when I was 21, then at 31 I moved back. I love uncompetitive volleyball.. (you know like on the beach or in the pool or something).  View profile
