Last Minute Valentine's Day Date Ideas

Kelly O'Neil
Valentine's Day is just a few short days away. Do you have the perfect date planned, or are you still procrastinating? You know your lovely lady has been gushing to all of her friends about how romantic you are, and saying how she cannot wait to see what you come up with for the big day. I know, no pressure. But don't panic just yet. You still have time to pull off a happy Valentine's Day for both you and your lady. Here are a few tips and ideas to help you plan a lovely last minute Valentine's Day date.

First of all, whatever you decide to do, have confidence in it. Present your date like it has been in the works for a long time. Under no circumstances tell your honey that you planned this last minute. That way, even if your date isn't well received (and there is always that chance with girls . . . you know sometimes it is impossible to keep us happy), she will not be able to throw your procrastination problems at you. Also, even if the date is not a hit, she will think it was so sweet of you to plan it. Just be organized, confident, and throw in a little something sparkly for good measure, and you will be fine.

A Picnic Date

Picnics are very romantic and sweet. If you are in a good climate, outdoor picnics are the best, but bad weather doesn't preclude this date . . . you just have to be a little more creative. If you are high school sweethearts, see if you can arrange to use the high school gym. Met in the mall? Then head to the food court. If you share a mutual love of art (music, monster trucks), go to a local display and have your romantic meal.

Once you have a spot picked out, plan a themed meal. Italian food is a good bet. If she loves French cuisine, go for it and serve it in a beret. Even if you feel a bit goofy, the effect will be fun and romantic. If you cannot cook (or assemble) a meal, go ahead and do takeout or prepackaged foods . . . just be sure to serve them on nice plates. Don't for get the wine, but be sure to check local laws . . . a citation is never romantic.

To make your meal extra special, write her a poem or song and read or sing it to her. A romantic meal is also a great place to present her with jewelry (sorry, guys, jewelry is always a winner).

Fun & Games

If your lady is a little laid back, then something slightly less pretentious is in line. Head out to a bowling alley, miniature golf course, or go-kart facility for a little playful romance. Curb your competitive spirit, and let her win a few.

Special touches for this date include a special prize (jewelry, roses, candy, kisses ) at the end of each game, hole, or race. Make sure you are focused on your lady, not on all the fun you're having.

Searching for Love

Being creative on Valentine's Day can get you major bonus points. Set up a scavenger hunt date that takes you around your city to places important to your relationship. Set up clues, and chauffeur you love to the different places as she figures them out. Some ideas include going to the restaurant you had your first date at, the park you went to on her birthday, and any other places that are special to you. Make each clue a poem, and give her something at each stop. A rose will do, or something related to the clue, like a photo would be better.

Your Love is Unique

Not all relationships are about flowers and candy. If your lady loves hot rods, why not take her to a roadster show? If she's a fitness buff, try indoor rock climbing. Just make sure to make the date special and romantic. Maybe there's a ring at the top of that rock climbing wall?

Whatever you decide to do, be creative and romantic. Stopping for roses on the way home, and then asking what is for dinner is a very bad idea. Use the next few days to create a special evening for your honey, and have a Happy Valentine's Day!
