Last November

Sherrill Fulghum
Not everyone is cut out to be the local sports hero; pop rock fans are lucky that these four lads from Georgia are among the I'm no good at sports crowd; Luke, Taylor, Tyler, and Zach, better known as Last November are not only talented musicians but a creative group who make use of their artistic talents as well.

Luke and Taylor met in high school. Then Tyler joined, and after being a big fan Zach joined the band. Luke is an artistic sort who writes much of the band's material. He had the songs for the band's first album "All the Gory Details" completed by the time he was 15. While kicking around names for the band Last November popped up and seemed to fit, but oddly enough it is also a part of one of Luke's songs. In the song "New Year's Day" is the line "this will be my last November, hope I make it through December".

The members of Last November have proven that they are anything but a bunch of guys who do nothing but sit around all day playing video games or watching television. Luke is the primary songwriter - all of the songs on both of the band's albums are original material. Band members maintain their own My Space page (www.myspace.com/lastnovember), which currently sports over 100,00 friends, including answering personally all of their own mail and messages. The band has reached the two million mark in music plays on their My Space page. And they made their last video themselves from shooting to final production. The video for their current single "Seventeen at Three in the Morning" was shot using fan volunteers in Luke's old high school and a 100 year old gym. Luke said that they plan to make the next video themselves as well.

Currently in the midst of a tour in the southern United States the guys take turns driving the band's van. Plans are in the works to expand the tour to other areas of the US beginning this summer.

Since they began playing live Last November has shared the stage with Plain White T's, Cake, Pink, The Working Title, The Almost, Mute Math, Family Force 5, Interpol, Chris Cornell, They Might Be Giants, and The Bravery, of whom they are fans. As luck would have it when preparing to record "Over the Top or Under the Weather" Last November landed Steven Haigler as the album producer, he also produced for The Bravery, and recorded at Southern Track Studios which has been the recording home of The Boss, The Bravery, and Stone Temple Pilots.

Besides an extended tour Last November is looking to release some new material since it has been over a year since the release of "Over the Top or Under the Weather". According to Luke Pilgrim it may be only an EP, but the band wants to offer fans a little something new.

A quick listen to a video or at a live performance from Last November and it is easy to see that fans will hear the same sound live on stage as they do on an album. While Last November's music is available through their My Space page, including a deal where fans can buy both albums for $9.99, and iTunes; fans can also download some of the tracks from both albums on Pure Volume. The band philosophy is that the more people who hear the music on an iPod will mean more people at a live show. Last November is a perfect example of how word of mouth creates a continually growing fanbase.

Last November is a group of four musicians who understand the value of hard work and know how to turn that hard work into music their fans will love.

They may be no good when it comes to sports, but they have what it takes when it comes to making music.
