Last will and testament of Moammar Gadhafi
I, now healthy in mind and body, am Colonel enough to know my brave stubborn friends are few, my enemies many, and no more friends coming. If I can't get away I may die. I'll make a will while I wait for the truck.
I may die in such a way that others decide what to do with what I leave behind; if I gave instructions I'd waste ink. But I'm famous enough for people to read what I write, and intelligent enough to write something worth reading. I have kept power for forty years, a rare feat. So with my blood I'll leave advice.
I've tried governing as a Muslim, as a socialist, as an African leader, and as a terrorist. None gave me a truly great, successful country. What else was there? Atheist Kim Jong Il governs worse and more dangerously than I; I wonder why the U.S. President didn't attack him? Stalin and Mao killed many people and wrecked their economies. I care little for Allah, but atheism is the theory that it's OK to eat atheists. I had better practice separation of atheism and state, than govern as an atheist.
Pagan India and Africa wallow in corruption. The Hindu and tribal political sides are rather nasty. No improvement there.
If I look for good governments whose people do well, I see them where Christian influence abounds. Politicians do not keep power as long as I, but they retire in peace. Strange how much freer the people are than I let my people be. They prosper with factories they make, not just with oil Allah made.
I remember, long ago, I was trying terrorism and many Americans hated me. A Christian couple invited my U.N. Ambassador to their home because they thought he'd be feeling lonely. That was so nice, I had them visit me here. Maybe I should've listened to their words about Jesus.
Jesus; the Koran respects him. Why are his countries better than Muslim, atheistic, and pagan countries? Mohammad was a great warrior. Marx tried to be, and Lenin and Stalin were. (No-god is on the side of the big battalions.) Hindus not so much, though they outnumber my Pakistani brothers enough to win wars against them. Why are Jesus's countries good?
Jesus didn't rule, he carpentered and taught and did miracles. Christians work and teach, and some say they do miracles. Maybe less rule is better. Mao ruled China into the ground while Hong Kong got rich with a government of Queen Victoria's leftovers that did very little. Now China is learning from the Christian Queen. The Bible-reading American infidel Jefferson said the government is best that governs least. Maybe a government that lets people think and decide for themselves, instead of telling them what to do and think, will release more of their creative energy, so that their country will prosper because they themselves prosper. Maybe the government of a man of peace and love, Jesus, will destroy less than a warrior government. My advice is, follow him. I should have made time to think about this, but rulers are so busy! I advise you, rulers, stop and think. Maybe the Jews are right with their Sabbath: just stop now and then. I should have considered my ways and other ways, especially the way of Jesus. Mohammad is dead, but Jesus is not dead. The truck is here.
