Not unlike other Presidents Obama faces an overall budget crisis. The need to reduce unemployment and try to pass a health reform bill is dependent on the GDP; the gross domestic product.. The ratio of debt to GDP must be reduced. The performance so far of the Obama stimulus package is unconscionable. I believe also the cash for clunkers program was a disaster Why should the government spend so much money to buy cars. The only jobs it helped were automakers. One thing in his favor is the recession seems to have slowed to a stop.
In surveys the numbers show less than half of the people feel that Obama will make the right decisions. That is probably true since he has not made the right decision yet. And Obama's approval rating is 12 points lower now than in April. In speaking with friends and family I found those that voted for Obama are sad they did so. From Fox News 53% are unhappy with the way he's handling the budget deficit and disapprove of his healthcare proposal.
The national debt continues to rise, all of which cannot be blamed on the past administration. I still believe the debt can be lowered by the federal government running a lottery as some states do. If put up for a vote I do think it would pass. I have polled about 100 people outside a local gas station and found a large percentage 86% felt as I do and believe a lottery could in time solve the national debt.
With the problems Obama faces as president why did he take this week to go on vacation? Figures show the deficit will grow over the next ten years by 9 trillion dollars. That huge number has never been seen before. And after Obama promised to halt the deficit by the end of his term, with his stimulus package already increasing the deficit there is no way he can lessen the deficit. And the healthcare reform is a trillion $ plan.
The plans to cut money from Medicare, is to me wrong. Fixing Medicare, stopping fraud by over billing by doctors and hospitals would be a better solution. In a recent doctor visit, the bill sent to me showed a urine test was billed at $420, Medicare paid over $200. The test used was out of box as seen in drug stores sold for about $29 and somehow this just doesn't seem right. which may be the reason Obama wants to cut Medicare to try and reduce the fraud.
