Latest Poll on Impeachment of the President Bush and Vice President Cheney

Regina Sass
The latest poll from American Research Group, Inc. shows more voters favor impeachment of both the President and Vice President. The results are very dramatically drawn by party lines, but do show an overall majority of Americans are in favor of Impeachment.

This poll is very significant due to some of the details. First of all , the percentage of Democrats and Republicans is remarkable close. Democrats 38%, Republicans 29%, a difference of only 9%. And with the Independents making up 33 %, it is easy to see the impact that the Independent voters make. If you have a poll with a large majority of one party or the other, the results are going to be a bit lopsided. A 9% differential is not much at all.

When asked "Do you favor or oppose the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush, 1,100 responded like this:

Of all adults polled, 45% were in favor, 46% opposed and 9% undecided. Of the actual voters polled 46% were in favor 44% opposed 10% undecided. When you break it down by party you get these results. Democrats made up 38% of the respondents 69% were in favor 22% opposed 9% undecided Republicans made up 29% of the respondents13% were in favor 86% opposed 1% undecided and when it comes to Independents who made up 33% of the respondents, 50% were in favor, 30% opposed 20% undecided.

When asked "Do you favor or oppose the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Vice President Dick Cheney?" these were the results:

Of all adults polled, 54% were in favor, 40% opposed, 6% were undecided. Of actual voters, 50% were in favor, 44% opposed, 6% undecided. Breaking it down to parties, we get these results: Democrats 76% in favor, 24% opposed, Republicans 17% in favor, 83% opposed. Independents: 51% in favor 29% opposed 20% undecided.

These are very significant figures. The numbers vary greatly between the two parties, but members of parties are more in favor of Impeachment for Vice President Cheney, indicating that they feel the Vice President is more responsible for the issues. The Constitution is very precise in what can be considered and impeachable offense. "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." It is up to the House of Representatives to determine if either the President or Vice President is guilty of anything that would fit into the categories outlined in the Constitution, and if so Impeach the individual and send the findings on to the Senate for a trial.

The problem with this country is the fact, almost all individual's in charge of large organizations, coporations, medium to large businesses, small businesses, and so forth are White male. Unfortunately, the White males contintues to dominate every aspect of the United States and has done so since the begining of time. President Obama's idea's and personal beliefs are unique and this poses a threat to White politicians. The result is an African American President who is encountering-witnessing American Politics at its best. This is the type of behavior that occurs on a regular basis and honestly it needs to be put to an end or the United States is going to continue to be a house filled with greedy, cut-throat, lying, politicians. Leave Obama and the vice president alone, give both a chance to correct-fix the mess we are currently in like we have all the other presidents of the United States.

bush will not get impeached i am a democrat the simple reason is he is a big oil man and he is out the the oil companys by giving them tax breaks we should wait until he is no longer in office and and then go after bush and chenny he should be charged with war crimes among other things bush lied about haveing weapons of mass distruction he did not consult with congress before going to war. ithink they should be a big investagation by the senate and congress to determine bushes and chenny,s involvement in the irag war.

    to everyone in this nation:
We have to get Bush Impeachment. I do know Americans vote the wrong president, here is why: look what his dad did. he's doing the same thing like his dad. Plus he's making it worse, even country relations as he is ruined it. He also shows no support for this nation. Did you guys know State of Michigan isn't well? alot of people, has lost their job and moved out of state. Alot of Business has closed down, alot of homes up for sale. And Ford Motor Company is moving to Canada. its all because of Bush, not supporting america. if we don't do anything now, then it will get worse, leading to Depression as back in the history. its a Risk, it has got to do something now.

Most americans do not believe he should be impeached, that is not true. according to exit polls John Kerry would have won the 2004 election.

Clinton was not impeached over a "blue dress." He was impeached over obstruction of justice and perjury! I'm not here to defend Clinton or Bush, I just can't stand it when I hear the misinformed line, "Clinton was impeached of a blue dress."

Bush just needs to GO.. :-)

  • Saba,Ink7/9/2007

I'm amazed that Bill Clinton was impeached over a blue dress, and covering up an infidelity (which is what most would do I suppose) and we cannot come up with high crimes and whatever else currently. Go figure...The American People want to know?!?!?

Stephen Colbert was talking about the Democrat's failure to impeach Bush and the "The Word" in the background was "President Cheney."
