Pistachio nuts reduce cholesterol levels

According to US research A handful of pistachio nuts may helpful in reducing blood cholesterol level hence reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease .
An experiment was conducted for four weeks with two different diets ,one with handful of pistachio nuts (app. three ounces) and one without pistachio nuts ,tested and results showed the reduce amount of LDL cholesterol by 11.6 per cent due to the diet with pistachio nuts.( Elsevier Health care )

Rubbish increases asthma risk

Canadian research suggests that rubbish may increase the risk of health problems like asthma. The research found out rubbish that had been out for long period (like forth night) produces harmful spores and these spores attack and cause sore throats, respiratory diseases and similar symptoms ,asthma and may other allergic reactions (ref : Science of the Total Environment Online 2007)( Elsevier Health care )

Vitamin D may cause brain lesions

According to US findings ,oral intake of calcium and vitamin D in old age associated with increase risk of brain lesions. The area of damage could lead to stroke, dimensia, depression or even cognitive impairment .

Cocktail shake -up

The latest report about cocktail shake -up by nutritionists show good news for cocktail lovers .The study shows that when strawberries are treated with alcohol it increases antioxidant properties of the fruit. Research said the alcohol increased and enhanced the property by a third. The research also indicated the similar result when treated with berries.(report published in the journal of Science Of Food and Agriculture).But report warned against to excessive consumption of alcohol could still damage liver
