Laughing Through the Tears

Even the Saddest Girl in the World Can Smile

Mandy Kaye
I am sad when no one seems to care, when no one loves me, no one takes the time to listen. I get sad when nothing else matters except for what I can't have. I get sad when things are so busy and there's no time to rest. I am sad if treated unfairly or you won't share what's troubling your mind. I get sad when the future seems to hold nothing. I am sad when I think about being alone. When you give up on me before it's too late. I am sad when you lie and pretend to be what you're not. I get sad when I can't dry the tears of people in pain. I get sad when I think of all that is wasted in the world. I am sad when I think of what I missed. I get sad when I doubt you love me as much as I believe. I get sad when you ignore me or bring me down to better yourself. It makes me sad when you think you're special. I get sad when you make me feel weak. I get sad when I'm frustrated, angry or, lost. I am the saddest girl in the world. But right now... I have a smile on my face.

Smiling is internal laughter from the soul. :-) Beautiful poem.
